The concept of “shoot and score on the rebound” is unknown to the Rangers.

Phil Esposito scored hundreds of goals off of rebounds in front. He’d have never made the HoF on this team.

This was the devils offense for years - shoot on net and send in the other 2 forwards to the net

Simple coaching: if you have the pick, look to shoot on goal; if you don’t have the puck, go to the net.

Rangers are rarely in the right spot for rebounds or they miss the net completely and the puck comes all the way out

If they could make a pass into the neutral zone or skate it out, that would be beneficial

Hard to be in right spot when everyone is on the perimeter passing the puck.

Skeji standing around on that last goal... Shiitenkirk doing nothing on the O and nothing on the D.... Smith overpaid.... The Rangers have issues but they created them... ****tenkirk is a third pairing being paid #1 money.. and Smith is a third pairing getting paid like a 2nd... Skeji needs to be taught how to play D... bigger than Del Zotto... but I see more MDZ than Leetch...

There's a tough L. Pavelec played well and the Rangers faced a tough goalie.

There is no plan on offense

This is the absolute truth.

2 minutes to go....Arneil drawing up the plays? Then 5 Rangers immediately go to the boards....that's what he drew up?

You can't score, you can't win. You can't score every mistake is that much more magnified. The goalies can only do so much facing 40 shots a game.

Typical Rangers game. Play well enough to be in it, shoot for OT or a shootout except Vegas fooled them with a late one. I liked Lettieri’s game he’s a keeper, make room for him. Keep Carey for number 10 forward and move Fast, he might bring a warm blooded defenseman back. Unless of course your thinking Grabner or Nash at the deadline. I’d be shopping Grabner myself does nothing but cherry pick. Nash works his ass off and if his salary came down by 1/2 he might be worth keeping.
You get a better visual watching live and the Rangers have a lot of talent up front. I don’t think the Rangers are as bad on the backend as others. 90% of problems are caused by poor communication and poor cohesion in their end. They were and are a mess in their own end, defensemen fight to gain or maintain the puck, only to rarely see a forward in a good position to pass to, and if they do pass and the forward gets pressured he either ices the puck or gives it back to the defenseman and the battle starts over. I have never seen a team pass backwards in their end more than the Rangers did last night. I don’t know what they are trying to accomplish but three forwards standing in their end covering 1/2 the ice facing their end boards is a stupid way to start this fast break, I keep hearing about, but never see.
It is only my opinion, but even their warmup sucked, 1/2 of it spent watching Miller dig pucks out and pass to players to shoot, while the other 18 guys stood around discussing what to do after the game. No wonder it takes them 2/3rds of a game to loosen up. All in all I saw little to convince me this was a well coached disciplined in hockey fundamentals team. Very little expected NHL caliber offence or push. Face it under this coach they will always be a mediocre, disorganized club. And that’s sad to see because the talent is there, just drastically misused. There is a hell of a defense first, dump and chase team there, maybe they need a guy who can coach that type of game.

We agree. Your description pretty much sums up what I've seen since AV got here. In the Finals, LA exploited and pounded the Rangers in their own end because of the lack of defensive zone discipline and plan.
