Im glad stepan is gone. Hope his return picks become players. Stepan had gone stale here.

I agree totally. But I heard we were fleeced.

Absolutely fleeced.....Look what Duchene fetched for a return.....Our #1 Center Stepan and a very good backup / could be starter and all we get back are a couple of prospects?

Gorton better do something but do we want him to? What did he get for Hagelin, Talbot? ...He got absolutely fleeced in the Stepan trade....Eric Staal trade was horrendous too

Got picks for Hagelin and Talbot. Just what you want....Picks, picks, and more picks.

You hated Stepan and you were begging him to be dealt.....so he gets a pick and a prospect in return, and didn't have to pay the contract. Now you think we were fleeced?

Are you changing your mind on picks now?

Yes I hated Stepan and that contract given to him by Inept management HAD to be moved or else we would be buying him out too.....We got 2 guys with potential but are no guarantees for the NHL...we hope but its was called a lousy draft....We could of and should of got more for him AND Raanta...we didnt get 1 NHL ready player out of that.....Hagelin a legit top 9 guy and we are still waiting for Gropp....Talbot you can make the argument they undersold him too

Mikey, I understand your frustration with past dealings, I think we all have some. i.e the singing of Valery Kaminsky remember that one??

But that being said it is hard for an 18 year old to make and maintain an NHL roster spot! ESPECIALLY, when AV is the coach!

I think the GM is responsible for putting together the framework of a team, but, the coach is responsible for fitting those pieces together and creating a system that best suits the teams strengths.

Which is why AV has to be fired yesterday!

Yep...The list is endless....Buyouts aplenty...constant band aids....Lindros after the 78th concussion...Pavel Bure after the 15th knee surgery....Mike Ridley and Kelly Miller for Bobby Carpenter.....#1's given away like candy on Halloween....endless

Let's hope...but we should of got the 2 prospects and a NHL ready kid too

You said he was horrible...you said he sucks...you said he should be traded. As bad as you said he was, why would your expectation be to get more than what they got? A first round pick and a good prospect for a horrible player? Sounds like a good deal. You want picks...you got picks.

Couldn't keep Hags or Talbot...so we got picks for them. Picks are what you want. Is your unhappiness now just due to your continuing hatred of the front office?

Do you..or do you not...wanr picks?

Yes Im cool with picks...But the deal has to be where both sides get equal value....We didnt HAVE to trade for Nash or Yandle......We botched the Cally and Hagelin deals....due to the Horrendous contracts they gave to "3" other guys.....Now we have Nash and Grabner and others who we SHOULD move for as much as we can get...High pick? cool...Prospect and a high pick? cool

I get your frustration, On the trades, but a huge part of recent trade failures was a near zen like ability of Herb to totally misuse the acquired players. Staal and Yandle most notably. The best part of Yandles game was the powerplay and Herb had him on the second rotation. For whatever reason he and McIlrath worked on the third pair, but nope gotta break that up. It was a disgrace the way he handled Staal. It could be argued when Eric Staal got here he was the most talented and well rounded forward on the team. Certainly at the very top of the list. So Herb threw him on the third line. Brilliant.
It doesn’t matter who they get Herb will mess it up. Nothing gets fixed on this team until Herb goes.

If you want to say the Rangers botched the Cally and Hags trades that is a valid opinion.

But if you look at the Cally trade from Tampa, they got screwed. With a 6 year cap hit of 5.8 million, Cally has had 1 good season, his first with TB. In his 2014/2015 season with TB - 24g/30a/77 games, then a 10g/18a in 73games, then a 2g/2a in 18 games because he got hurt (as predicted for his style and size) and the wonderful numbers for this year, 1g/5a in 34 games. There are also 2 more years after this one with a 5.8 million cap hit. In a funny twist, TB first pick in 2014 was....... Anthony DeAngelo, now playing for the Wolf Pack. It seems TB swapped the other pick for 2 #2 picks in 2015. The Rangers got to a cup Final with MSL. Imagine for a second if Cally was here with his 5.8 million cap hit and his falling off a cliff numbers and 2 more years after this one. Yikes.

The same could be said with Hags - for the Rangers, he was gone anyway because of the cap. The Ducks knew that. Then the Ducks dumped him anyway, half way thru the first season after 4g/8a after 43 games. The Ducks got back Perron and Clendening. Hags is a great guy to have on your team, but in a capped NHL, he is not worth 4 million @ 4 years unless you have the room and do not need goals - like the Pens. Fast is a reasonable facsimile of Hags for a 1.75 million cap hit.

The cap is responsible for a lot of effed up trades because talent and money get mixed up and never really match up. I think the Rangers are better off without Cally and Hags and their contracts.

Agreed.I personally never had a problem with those two players leaving NYR.
We have Grabner, scores goals and is fast as well.Good all around player.

Cally trade is the type of trade that should get a GM fired...Captain AND 2 #1's for 38 year old player? Are you F'n kidding me?....Cally was great with us.....and by now he is breaking down and we could let him go...but Id rather of kept him thru these years....He played with balls and heart .....Hagelin that was a sin how they got rid of him too....Kid had jets and was always in the middle of things in the playoffs.....why......all because they gave albatross contracts to Richards, Stepan, Giradrdi, Staal and Henrik....2 buyouts...1 that still might get bought out and 1 that would of got bought out too.

You take your 28 year old Captain who is the heart and leader of your team and 2 future #1 draft picks....who you can use to hopefully draft kids that can develop and be future Rangers....and you give that away for a 38 year old guy who only gives you 1 season?......That is beyond stupid .....even if they won the Cup in 2014...that is still a STUPID STUPID STUPID deal
