Ah no...McLeod is a 4th liner with an edge, so more likely he's sitting in for someone like Carey or Lettieri IMO

It was humour fish, although I expect Miller to be on the third or fourth line tonight. McLeod will line up well with Holland, maybe they can get Glass back now to.

Ah, apologies....perhaps of interest, he's played with current Rangers: Nick Holden, Kevin Shattenkirk, Paul Carey...and also Hartford netminder Marek Mazanek

And perhaps the Rangers need to spend a low draft Pick on a goon that can play here and there in the draft because this is a team full of pu$$ys...and thats on AV and the FO

Uh, boy...The Highlander was a fan-favorite in Colorado, but he's been past his prime for quite a while now. He was signed to a relatively cheap 3-year contract in 2014 and is now on his third team during that span. He obviously hits a lot harder than Carey, but is significantly slower. I personally don't think he's NHL-level anymore, but I'm glad he's got a shot at possibly finishing his career without having to toil in the minors.

The Rangers have done this every year about this time under Vigneault. Grab a tough guy that has minimal playing impact. Expect more of the same, although one might make the leap its groundwork and a finish the year replacement for some traded Rangers at the deadline.
I don’t know why they would want to replace Carey he’s been pretty solid in his role.

This is great. I'm hoping for better draft position so this move is perfect.

Little late to be getting tough wouldn't you say

"On the season, McLeod has one goal and one assist with 72 penalty minutes in 23 games.
He has had 6 fights this season.
He is in the last year of his contract and has a cap hit of $1.3 million"

Essentially he is being brought in IMO because the Rangers are about to make deals and they want some protection for the young players they are going to bring up who might not be physically ready to take on some physical play in the NHL if they don't have some protection.

At this point he just gives Gorton a little more flexibility at the deadline. Gorton can now take straight picks back for Nash and or Grabner instead of decreasing the potential pick return by the other team including a roster filler for the Rangers. Carey has played well enough to move up the lineup to finish what would be a dead year if a sell off occurs.

I really think Gorton has no idea what he’s doing. It’s not like bringing in one physical player is going to make the Rangers tough to play against. They need scoring if they are intent on saving this season. Paarjavi is one waivers. He’s nothing special, but could lengthen the lineup playing 3rd line minutes . They need to call up Graves and make Staal the extra.
Gorton is clueless tho the way this team has been built

In the playoffs, he's barely a 4th liner. And while he certainly has skills in the regular season, too many times his head is up his ass.

Playoffs...What Ranger has done anything special lately in the playoffs? Fast had a couple of big goals last year, other than that no one impressed!

Miller was having a great year last year when paired with Hayes and Grabner, then Mr Wonderful broke them up right before the playoffs.

If we will call Miller barely a 4th liner in his short playoff career, what shall we call Nash? A 3rd line AHL player?

Asham played in 6 games for AV in AV'S first year then gone the next year

Dorsett played in 51 games for AV in AV's first year then gone the next year

Carrillo played in 31 games for AV the same year, then gone the next....

Safe to say, AV doesn't like tough guys!! Way to go Mikey!!!!

Sooooo....you are confirming that 4th line tough guys do get shifts for AV. I don't recall seeing any statement that asked how many of the same guys came back.

The comment was "he will never see a shift under AV". It is right above in this quote...maybe you need help reading it.

By your response, you effectively proved Mikey's statement wrong. Congrats.

I like Macleod, but I woulda liked him much better about 5 years ago. Or even when Nashville first grabbed him from the Avs, when he could've been a big help to the Rangers in the playoffs.

Now? He'll get the occasional start when Gum-Gum feels the need for some toughness in the lineup, like tonight. He won't get more than 6 or 7 minutes of ice in any one game regardless. He'll be scratched at least as much as he's dressed under Gum-Gum.

Heaven forbid the Rangers EVER draft a young tough guy who plays his prime ass-kicking years with them, instead of grabbing an aging enforcer at the end of his career. The last guy I recall was Colton Orr. Before him was Darren Langdon and Tie Domi. Three homegrown tough players in about 25 years.

The one area will I think (hope) that Macleod will have some positive impact is leadership. The guy is a leader on the ice, on the bench, and in the room. He'll also be there to respond when opponents run at McDonagh, Nash, Zuc, and Buch, and then taunt the Rangers' bench as they skate past. IF he's dressed, that is.
