Has people going crazy and I was wondering what do you think the final 16 games hold?

They are 30-30-6 as of today, this is the final opposition...
What are your predictions for the final games?
What is the final record?
Do they make the playoffs?
Does Hank hit 30 wins again?

Rangers play...

Mar 6-Winnipeg
Mar 8-@Tampa
Mar 10-@Florida
Mar 12-Carolina
Mar 14-Pittsburgh
Mar 17-@St. Louis
Mar 20-Columbus
Mar 22-@Philadelphia
Mar 24-Buffalo
Mar 26-Washington
Mar 28-@Washington
Mar 30-Tampa
Mar 31-@Carolina
Apr 3- @New Jersey
Apr 5- @Islanders
Apr 7- @ Philadelphia

I predict you're wrong because that is only 80 games. I predict you meant 36-38-8.

Lundqvist has 25 Ws

I think he can win 5 of 16

But if they lost 16 straight I wouldn't be surprised or disappointed

Part of me sees the incredible value in going full tank and trying to get the highest draft pick possible. The Rangers haven't had a high pick that turned into high level player in decades. The closest we've gotten honestly, was Marc Staal. There were others with promise - Cherepanov, Brendl, to name two, but very little else.

But the Rangers have been winning and subverting this plan. The silver lining here though - is showing management and coaching that kids are fully capable of playing, and winning, and hopefully that will minimize some of the need for acquisitions of guys like Cody McLeod in the future. After all if you can win with cheap, young players that the fans prefer anyway, why sign over the hill vets to expensive contracts?

Realistically though the Rangers have won the last 3 games due to superhuman goaltending and because the competition was subpar, not because the kids have been anything spectacular. The next 2 games should bring them crashing back down to earth.

Needing Super-Hank to beat bottom feeders does not bode well for them against the better teams.

Yeah, if they beat The Jets, I'll start thinking they have a shot at the playoffs.

But I don't think they're finishing .500 through the next 16

.500 through the remaining 16 games won't get you into the playoffs. Realistically speaking, it'll take at least 90 points to get in meaning 24 points in the remaining 16 games. I don't think there's a chance in heI_I_ they get close.

Only thing I'd find worth rooting for the Rangers is to see Hank have another 30 win season

I do not see a play off shot... they would need the west to go on a run.. and the lower teams to lend a hand.. AND the upper teams to brain fart the remainder of the season.

As many said I think this is lower teams ...(though Calgary has been decent) and the goalies coming up HUGE ... I have said this all season.. and that losing Klein and Girardi then replacing them with Shattenkirk and upgraded ice time for Skeji who is MDZ/Boyle 2.0 meant the goalies had to be much better every night and all the kids now.. with no klein.. no girardi.. no mcdonaugh no Holden and Smith (as bad as he is) in the minors and an aging Staal.. means what was a strength years ago is now the worst part of the team.. and even O Gara and the kids coming in are learning on the fly... where after Staal you have Skeji as the vet on the D.. and that is just NO GOOD..

I like Spooner and Namestikov they look good and Hayes has finally woken up to either they need him.. or that he wants to get paid this summer.. but yes this is great time to see what is worth keeping... what is worth sending back to the minors and what they no longer need... I think the Rangers are learning that Georgiev could be a very good back up next season which will save money

And we all want a higher pickbut the players are playing for jobs for next season.. so unless they play a worse goalie... I expect Hank to hit 30 or have a chance to win 30.

Yes I am thinking Hank hits 29 too... I can see them trying to get him to 30 fast and then give the reigns to Georgiev and see what he can do down the stretch... so if Hank can save another 50 a game then he could hit 30 maybe by Buffalo and then see what is up. Give him the rest of the season off.. and send him to the world championships to win a gold fo Sweden.

This was my concern since the very beginning... especially since Gropp would suddenly go cold when Barzal was out and heat back up when he was in. "In Gordie we trust" only goes so far.

The stupid lockout already ruined Hank's 30 win streak. If he gets another one this year it'll be great but will also have no impact on his legacy.

That means nothing. Brian Leetch was -36! He must be the worst defenseman in the league!

Gropp was never a top end offensive prospect and he's only proved that. So we're really no worse for the wear for selecting him. He can still be a serviceable bottom 6 forward he just doesn't have the hockey iq to be a top 6 guy. He still does all the things he does - uses his body well, skates well for his size, good shot. When we drafted him we were hoping for James Neal (minus the douchebaggery) but he'll never be at that point. Could be a decent complementary bottom 6 winger.

Besides Hags big $4 million cap hit? and the whopping 8 goals and 16 assists that Hags has this season or the 6g/16a he had last season.

Addition by subtraction.

Maybe the smart teams knew that Hags had no value at the price point. Hags produces "Albert like" numbers for more than twice the price. No thank you.

I think the point is not that we should have Hagelin back, but that management wasted (or at least did not optimize) the value of the return.

Yes because Mcleod, Carey, Fast, Boo, Letteiri, DD etc... are all better options....We stupidly paid Stepan so then we couldnt sign Hagelin....trade him fine....but how about that return on that trade?

I think the return was right for the player Hags is, we had a better version of him for less than 1/2 the cap hit last season and most of this season in Grabner. The "issue" is we may have missed on the Gropp pick, or at the very lease maybe he'll be a bottom 6 player at best.

No way we'd want Hags anywhere near this team at 4 mill per. And before anyone says look at the Pens winning with him, do me a favor and show me Malkin, Kessel and Crosby on our team. Hags was a lower level player they could afford little production from because they have big stars that we don't.

To me it shows the big crapshoot picks are, especially after round 1, and also reinforces the advantage we have with 7 picks in rounds 1-3 this year (increases our odds of a hit).

Hagelin was a good Ranger....showed up in the big spots ...we paid Stepan 6.5....We lucked into Grabner...Grabner also is on the 4th line alot and not a physical player...Devils already regret trading for him

Hags was a good solid Ranger, not worth close to 4 mill per. Loved him when he was here though. And luck or not Grabner was a better version of Hags for less than 1/2 the cap hit.

I agree, they could have made a better choice with the 41st pick. However, the draft is a crapshoot and we have the benefit of 20/20 hindsight. Hags was replaced by the cheaper and better Grabner a year later and that cost no picks or talent. Not having Hags at his salary is a win, especially with the signing of Grabner. Grabner scored 52 goals in 2 seasons for $1.65 million/year and then turned into a second round pick and Rykov. The hags transaction turned into a big win.

So the draft is crap shoot.....but when we trade 4th line Grabner for 2 unknowns...its a huge win?
