Unions do great things for their people....working conditions, Full medical and dental, Pension...Education fund to pay for your wife or kids tuition....They pay for a lawyer if you need one....Its a great thing

WAS a great thing.........They didn't protect me, and I was never absent, hurt, or had a write up.

Dam shame.....The suits upstairs making 100 million bought off the Politicians to make NAFTA a law so they could move the plant to Mexico...Pay nothing for labor and bring the car back here and still charge $40k

NAFTA is one of the worst trade agreements ever!!!

Thanks Bill

Absolutely the worst thing the politicians ever did to the American worker...I hope Trump blows it up

NAFTA has nothing to do with outsourcing labor. We make products in other countries because Americans want a $15/hr minimum wage! Can either pay that, or pay someone in Vietnam pennies to the dollar.

We should be supporting free trade! It's a conservative ideal! Reagan was the brains behind it. Bill Clinton signed it AFTER George HW.... and Democrats were stunned!

We want 0% tax rates on trade between allies, so the cost of products are as low as possible! If we increase tarrifs, we are shooting ourselves in the foot. The costs will be passed to the consumer as the market cost of goods increases. Any government intervention is cronyism, and is what's wrong with our politics! Washington shouldn't be picking winners and losers.... allow the markets to be free!

We should've signed TPP... Reagan would have...

It's such a myth! Before NAFTA, Mexico taxed US way more than we taxed them. They taxed us at 30+% to export goods to them. We opened up the market.... we can be isolationists, and trade only within our own boarders, or we can open it up to include more nation's consumers.

All you're doing with tariffs is increasing the overhead, and shrinking the size of the market. Ultimately it's the consumer who suffers.

With or without the tariffs, labor will still be outsourced because our wages are higher. Whether it's to Mexico, Vietnam, businesses will find a way to have the lowest costs, and biggest profit margines possible.

The only way to compete is to produce superior products. We need to worry about leading the way as far as innovation goes.... instead we hold on to oil and coal industry, and pull out of the Paris Agreement.

We're handing world trade to China. Gift wrapped

The oil are a mess is right. Wouldn’t suprise me to see a new President, G.M. And coach this summer. Peter does not appear to have done much right.

Sure, but no tarrif is going to fix that. Nike certainly won't lower their prices if you tax them higher.... makes no sense.

The trade deficit is a problem identified, but the solution of abandoning free trade is counter productive

Not a myth...

NAFTA opened the floodgates for companies and corporations to leave the country and build plants in other countries.

It's just not true. NAFTA is between us, Canada, and Mexico.... is us making products in China NAFTA's fault? Vietnam? What's the excuse there?

We outsource all over... not just Mexico. What it does is open up trade markets. Makes out cars more accessible to the rest of North America, and we get maple syrup (and steel) from Canada, and avocados from Mexico.

So, Canada has our steel industry beat, but in return we get to make our products for cheaper, and sell them to more customers, instead of just Americans.

For every steel job lost, one is gained in other industries. There's nothing in NAFTA that makes outsourcing easier or a better option without the agreement

The labor moves because of the labor cost, not the tax rate on the imported product! Whether we tax the goods or not, the labor cost stays the same. It will always be cheaper to hire a Mexican than it will to hire an American. No trade deal will change that.

What the trade deal DOES do is open up the trade part of it. It's about trade, not manufacturing. Buying and selling, not labor.

If you want to start making hockey sticks, and sell them to American kids AND Canadian kids, you are free to do so tax free. You can also buy their hypothetical premium brand skates without additional tax.

It's all about the cost of living. The more taxes there are, the more expensive everything is for you and me. Bottom line.
