Garth Snow has close to 12 years on the job and accomplished nothing. He has squandered hard earned top five draft picks, his brutally built teams earned with their inept play. If he has a job a week after the season I will be amazed. Just hope the Islanders hire some one as useless. I have no interest in watching a revitalized Pilses team causing the Rangers problems. I endured the Al Arbour pilses and have no wish to see them to do anything but flounder.

Looks most likely the Rangers end up with 9th-11th pick at this stage, but could still be credibly considered a shot at 7th or 8th depending on other teams as well as their own results

WOW Neil Smith and Mike Johnson on NHL network talking Isles....and they said that the money the Isles have offered Tavares.....Tavares camp has said it is not good enough...They blew it by not trading him

Tavares has had a front row seat to the ineptitude of the Islanders for 8 years. I have no idea why anyone would think he wants to sign up for another 8.

Although I love the false hope he's giving the Isles fans right now. Just watch, he'll be traded prior to the draft for a bag of pucks (Tavares' rights for a second round draft pick, conditional on whether that team signs him) and then the Tavares era will be over.

Yep I can't believe the Isles didn't move him at the deadline.....considering the 2 arena thing coming up ....nobody will trade for him for him at the draft...bag of pucks is right

The only thing that will keep Tavares with the pilses will be the new G.M. hired following this season. He will give his pitch of his vision to Tavares and and he will decide. Personally I see 0 chance of him staying on the Island. The Islanders have a couple of pieces but still a long way to go and a lot longer without Tavares.

I think the Isles are doomed....Having to play in 2 different home arenas for the next few seasons is a disaster....No way Tavares signs up for that

Craig Custance writes that Jeff Gorton was a popular figure at the GM Meetings in Florida because of the amount of draft picks the Rangers accumulated at the trade deadline. (The Athletic)
•Gorton made similar comments at the trade deadline, saying that having draft picks increases the amount of chatter that goes on with other teams.

Ge said that the Rangers are keeping their options open, including potentially moving a first first round pick, and that the Rangers have set a goal of trying to get "as many good players" as they can." (The Athletic)

Custance notes that Gorton may be willing to move one of his first round picks for a "good young player" with Gorton adding that the Rangers can't have a team full of 18-year olds. (The Athletic)

In terms of the potential draft prospects, Gorton noted that there is "one," Swedish defenseman Rasmus Dahlin, and then it will be "interesting" to see how the rest of the draft shakes out. (The Athletic)

He noted that the Rangers are still out watching all of the prospects and starting

If we can wheel and deal to get into the top 5 ...and give someone our 7-10 plus.... we will get an elite prospect...6'3" 200 lb Brady Tzchuck barreling down the wing for us would be nice....I think a deal can be made with the 4 or 5 pick.....after Rasmus, Svechinkov and Zadina....those 3 prob wont be willing to move

The Rangers need to have Edmonton, the pilses, and with a little luck Chicago pass them and that would give them 7th overall.

Both Kjell Samuelsson's son (Mattias - 6'3", 209) and Ulf Samuelsson's son (Adam - 6'5", 240) are in this year's draft. Both are LD. Mattias is ranked 28; Adam is ranked 74. Might be nice to have some big bodies on defense to clear the net.

This article proves just because you have the picks does’t guarantee success. Although the Rangers pick of Cherapanov had the potential of being a great pick but for his very sad death. A better blunder by the Rangers was the immortal Pavel Brendl.

As Rangers fans we lament the death of Cherapanov and seem to insist he'd have been a great one. He could just as easily have been Alexei Mikhnovor Joey Hishon as he could have been Zach Parise or Martin Hanzel (the extremes of all players drafted 17th overall in the 2000s). But let's just be the optimists we all are on this board (cough, choke) and hold him as the one that woulda coulda made a difference.

Forgot to post the link before you responded sureshore, it’s there now. As far as Cherepanov when you read this article I think you will agree he didn’t belong on it. He was not a bust like the others just was unfortunate to have never got a chance to play.

Cherapenov was keeping pace with a 36 year old Jagr.... a Jagr who had just scored 25g 46a for The New York Rangers a year prior.... in the KHL, a league that doesn't play kids.... as a 19 year old

He finished with 1 more goal in 15gp than his team's second leading point getter (behind Jagr) did in 56gp

He was on pace for 29g 17a 46pts which would've made him the leading goal scorer above Jags

He was no Brendl

Not sure your point Rob no one compared Cherepanov to Brendl. As I said earlier Cherepanov was not a bust in any way shape or form. And Brendl was a colossal bust.

But on to the tank Chicago, Detroit and the isles 1 point back of the Rangers. Now is the time to forego winning, do a true tank, and move up to 7th overall with three or four more losses. Go tank go.

Look, the players are not going to simply lay down. To me that is a good trait as we move forward. And it won't be picks 29 and 30 from TB and Boston since they will play in round 2, which means only one can make the ECF, so that is good for us. One of the picks will not be in the bottom 4 of round 1 (one will be pick 27 or better). And truth be told it would be best for us if TB beat Boston and then won the SC. That's what we should be rooting for.

As for us, we'll have the 10th pick. Is what it is. I still fully believe our path is to package some picks and assets to move into the top 3 of the draft. Add a real difference maker, then make some smart 3 year max signings and away we go with youth and a difference maker and some good vets.

That is what has to be done...use the 10 and a Kreider to move up or some combo of dealing with Calgary and or Winnipeg who dont have a #1 ....and for the love of God if they pick at 10 and take a 5'9" 160 lb player my head will explode
