Vesey was never suppose to be more than a 3rd line guy... He's doing exactly what they brought him here to do

Regardless, I like the kid. A lot. He plays with an edge and his instincts are good.

If he’s a third liner, I’ll take him there over Fast any day.

5 goals 4 assists in 7 games.....Amazing what a kid can do when a coach puts him in a place to succeed, instead of making him the scapegoat!

I do think he can be a 25 goal guy though. With a coach who knows how to coach and puts players in position to excel. Not a coach who bounces kids around from 2nd to 4th to 1st to 3rd every other game.

Vesey could hit 25 goals, on a sheltered 3rd line on a contending team. Look at how much different Miller is playing in TB. Granted, Miller is hands down a more talented player but like Vesey, I think his talent and abilities were/are suppressed/hidden by AV misuse and overall bad team.

Yeah exactly. Both players can move up and down the lineup, but Vesey brings more size and offense

Yeah - don't know how much of the game you saw but he's still making the same bonehead turnovers by way of own-zone cross ice passes. So while I appreciate the scoring, that wasn't the major complaint among most Ranger fans with regards to Miller

I get that complaint. But, who on this team doesn't make those same mistakes? We've got boneheads a plenty!!!

He always had/has skills....but over the long run, the mental mistakes were not being corrected (probably due to lack of proper coaching).

Also...his recent scoring success is nice....isn't a bad thing to be on a line with Stamkos and Kucherov either. Seems like the 3rd member of that line gets quite a bit of scoring chances (i.e., Names).

Stepan had more drop passes to no one that seemed to always turn into a 2 on 1 going the other way. And all we heard was how "smart" of a player he is.

Fast, Zucc, Hayes, Kreider, Day go away, Vesey, all the D men, Zib, ALL guilty of boneheaded mistakes.

Wow!!! I completely agree with all of what you said. That's the reason I didn't want to see him go, was hoping a different coach could help with the mental part of his game.

Smart minds think alike!!

I also thought he was on Tampa's 2nd line.

He played with Stamkos and Kucherov last night. At least one was in on all his goals. But it takes a lot of talent to play with guys like that and produce. Millers got a lot of talent. I didn’t want to see any younger guys trading while stupid was still coaching. There is and in Millers case was to big a possibility the young guys inconsistencies was a coaching issue. Management raised conditioning and coachability issues about Miller after the trade which is sorta standard justify the trade stuff, time will tell the believability. I don’t think Miller and chewy were ever going to coexist. Vigneault always seems to have a whipping boy, from Boyle to Yandle to McIlrath to Miller and now Buchnevich. It’s always one guys fault and others skate around aimlessly with no repercussions. Same ****show as Vancouver.

I understand how people have a hard time rooting for losses. When it gets to this point (As it does for every team I root for in every sport) I don't watch many games. It's much easier to be happy just finding out they lost than having to sit through it.
A win here would made picking ahead of Carolina a near lock. I would hate to end up 11th going into the lottery and then end up at #12 when some team behind us gets lucky.

Don’t get your hopes up about moving up. Teams don’t often trade out of the top five in good draft years.

Yeah my speculation is that if we end up at about #8, the value of all our first round picks together *might* be able to crack the top 5, and that's also assuming you have a trade partner who is confident enough that the pick they want will drop a few spots. Wishful thinking, basically.

However if we lose a bunch of games and end up with #5 overall, there's a higher chance that there could be movement within the top 5.

This Jets trade a reasonable facsimile if the Rangers expect to move up. Its just not a easy, or a cheap thing to do. The NFL is a lot more about what position is available and what teams needs are allowing teams to move up and down. NHL teams are pretty much a best player available draft. If the Rangers are drafting at 10, expect a minimal two firsts, and Zuccarello to get into the top five and even then it will be likely fourth or fifth overall coming back. Personally I just don't see Gorton giving up that many assets, this is supposed to be a deep draft once you get past the first three or four players, so quantity might be in the Rangers favor over, in reality how much of a improvement in quality by moving up. I don't know what Zuccarello will bring at the draft but a possibility of him and say Tampa's first might get the Rangers up to a 13 to 20 pick. I'd expect something like that before any higher movement.
