With the loss to the Islanders today the Rangers dropped from the 10th spot to the 9th spot (for the draft) with a game left in the season.

If the Rangers lose the last game ... Edmonton (who is leading early against Vegas) wins 2 and The Black Hawks win 1 of the next 2 the Rangers can drop as low as 7th overall.. which will increase the chance they can jump further up in the draft this summer.

I am thinking that the 8th pick might be the best they can hope for at this point. But still with a decent chance to move up.. 7th would be great... as it looks like the Bruins and Bolts pick will be late 20's or 30th even overall.

Given the draft order the Rangers could add some serious size (assuming there is not a major jump forward through lottery or trade or anything.)

Projected 9th pick
8th pick

Projected 27th pick

Projected 30th pick
