1. No
2. Don't know yet
3. Brett Howden

1. No. As usual he'll play better than the team in front of him deserves but that won't be enough for anything this year.
2. Hoping he will be a good teaching coach for younger players and can build a foundation for long term success, which he may or may not be a part of.
3. Pavel Buchnevich

1. No, although with a d system that uses the players skills, they could make the playoffs.
2. I hate when writers make obvious mistakes - Quinn spent 1 year as an NHL assistant in Colorado and spent 3 years as a head coach in the AHL. It is not like he came out of a prep school/college only experience. I think he will be fine.
3. Skjei

He looks like he's manning up a little. Packed some muscle on that frame.

1. If the team in front of him starts playing sound basic defense and clear the front of the net, then there's a possibility the team makes the playoffs. If not, then 12th place, here we come...
2. Hard to say but it can't be any worse than AV.
3. Number of returning players might make surprising progress. Buchnevich, Hayes and Kreider being my top 3. Skjei is a given as he'll bounce back from the sophomore jinx.

One interesting point in the article -- it's funny how all the pundits point out Lundqvist's worsening numbers over the past two seasons being related just to him getting older. But nobody's even hinting at the atrocious defensive play in front of him, which was getting worse by the minute right in front of our own eyes, plus all the times he was run without any response or retaliation.
I agree he's getting old but that's not the whole story here.

No, it was completely Hanks fault that AV had installed maitre d defense to make sure Hank kept busy facing boatloads of high quality shots.

With regard to No. 1, let's take baby steps....don't think we have the personnel (other than maybe Smith) to physically clear the front of the net....however, a big step to reducing the carnage of AV's reign would be to make sure there are fewer opposing players wide open to take pot shots at the goalie.

I think Lundqvist is good enough to win a Cup still. He's in good shape.

Pekka Rinne won the vezina last year.... what is he, a year younger than Lundqvist?

Do we think Rinne wins the vezina with The Rangers' defense?

I think The Preds have a better shot at a cup with Lundqvist, then Rinne....

Yeah, Preds have probably the best D in the league or Top 3 for sure.

Everyone is overrated when you have a good defense.... Brodeur, for example... I'm not saying he was a bad goalie, but when your team plays the trap and has an allstar defense you're going to look a whole lot better.

Which brings us back to Lundqvist..... where was The Rangers allstar defense? Ever! Rangers have won in spite of poor defense... McDonagh, and that's about it. Marc Staal. Everyone else were terribly inconsistent. Never as bad as last year, but Lundqvist has been consistently good in my opinion. The 1st period just can't start by losing the faceoff, and leaving a guy wide open in front of the net.....

Wanna know who else is really good still? Carey Price. The team in front of him blows now, so his numbers are shot. The goalie can only do so much.

But if anyone thinks Lundqvist can be swapped out for just anyone.... Talbot..... Georgiev..... You're mistaken. Yes, at 36/37 years old. The guy is still good

And Price's 8 year extension @ 10.5 million only kicks in this season.

Preds becoming the next toothless Sharks, & Rinne is part of it. Holtby, this year, made those saves he had to make.

Maybe.... Hard to say without seeing him.... or any of the prospects for that matter, in camp and in preseason.

This season is clearly about developement. There is no pressure to win.... at all..... So if it's best for his developement, or Howden's, or Hajek.... Lindgren or Andersson.... go down the list..... if they need the confidence of dominating the AHL, or are a little too slow for the NHL game still, there's no harm in having them play in Hartford.

In reality, all of the above mentioned will likely be bounced up and down through the year, but ultimately I'd say by season's end they will all be on the team..... by the deadline when we revisit whether to keep Hayes, Namestnikov, Zucc, Spooner, and so on.

What else is new? I mean they sign McLeod to a 500K contract and Rangers fans make like we have the dumbest GM in the history of sports because of it.... so why would it be any different if they decide to not rush the prospects/rebuild?

No matter what they do it'll be wrong, until THE day they win The Cup. We won The Presidents Trophy, and Rangers fans still said we sucked, and wanted to trade Lundqvist....

I would love to trade Henrik...I want Heatl to learn at the NHL level instead of playing in the lawless AHL full of goons...I believe he is capable

FWIW it's a lot easier to start him in the AHL (send him down during camp_) and then call him up - if he starts in the NHL and then gets sent to AHL, that is seen as a step backward and the fans will be up in arms.

Still, I believe he can play in the NHL right now... at this point I don't think the AHL has much more to offer him as an offensive forward.

An aristocrat in a baseball hat? I don’t think so.
He looks like rather a guy who has got a USA visa and still can’t believe it.
