Wow I thought we were lucky when we missed out on Ryan Reaves.... I would take Reaves 10 times over this though.

What pisses me off is not that we have a guy that fights, it's that the only thing he can do is fight. You're going to literally waste a roster spot, on a developing team, for a guy whose only role it is to go out and fight the other team's enforcer if they injure one of our kids? That's dumb. McLeod isn't going to see the ice enough to actually be a deterrent (which has ben disproven as ineffective anyway).

How about we fill this role with Chris Stewart (not one of my favorite players but at this point beggars can't be choosers) - he's huge, physical, can fight the heavyweights, and can actually take a few minutes of ice time per game. he's actually a hockey player that can fight versus a washed up enforcer.

At this point I just roll my eyes... we're not winning a lot of games anyway so if he plays first line and helps us land Hughes then all the better.

He will only see the ice when the Rangers think they need his skill set. The Rangers should have a lot of cap room to keep him in the press box until needed. If they realize they don't need him it will be no big deal to waive him.

I don't really care either way on this move...don't see the Rangers making the playoffs, and a one year contract for a guy like this doesn't exactly hurt anything

Eh...given I am an Avalanche AND Rangers fan, I'm obviously biased. The Highlander is most certainly a guy that's well-respected and liked in the locker room, and few players have literally bled for the teams he's played for like he has.

On the other hand, I said at the time in 2014 that the extensions the Avs were handing out like candy were all mistakes, and McLeod's was no exception. He changed teams twice during the course of that deal, He's just not a guy you should be signing to anything more than 1 year.

There are worse guys you could have as your 13th or 14th forward, and it's not like Gorton pulled a Lou and signed him for FOUR YEARS. If he helps the kids out even a little as they develop, then he's worth one year for that at least.

I honestly think his ability to punch faces is his least desirable trait, where he's most effective is on the forecheck, raising hell and hitting everything in sight. Obviously time has slowed him to the point where he's not even that effective at this, but I don't see this deal as a huge mistake or anything, especially for a young, rebuilding club.

Hopefully, he will be in Hartford. My guess is he only gets called up if somebody gets a cheapshot and they play that team again.

Boo took the qualifying offer deal.... two big signings in a row? I can't handle it!

What are these guys thinking? Signing depth players for peanuts..... how on Earth is a player with more talent suppose to earn a spot, with Nieves in their way?

Boo and McLeod are road blocks

McLeod is a real 4th liner...not like he's going to take more than 8-10 minutes a night of playing time away from anyone, not like a kid is going to benefit much from the time he's consuming...

What does Boo bring? These are depth guys. Probably aren't on a 100% healthy roster, but if/when injuries happen, these guys are options. You need that, it's called depth.

But what does he bring?? It's the same thing! The same type of signing.... McLeod isn't here to be an automatic roster player. He creates competition... be better than Cody McLeod at wing. and you've earned yourself a spot.... Be better than Boo at Center, and you've earned a spot...

Otherwise, they have both proved capable of playing some shifts at the NHL level. Neither "help us win games".... they're depth fillers.

Boo may have elevated his game again this Summer, but what you see is what you get with these guys.... No big deal. Solid depth role players. Nothing more. Nothing less

Which is why they're only paying him $750,000.... he could start the year in Hartford just as easy as Boo could....

Im more worried that they signed someone who brings nothing to the table...when he plays....1 kid cant....Yes he can get waived and that would be great....but this goes to the competency of Gorton

Can't play compared to what other depth guy? Do you think Gorton signed this guy to be a difference maker?... I don't. He's a guy getting paid under a million bucks. Every team has em... The bubble barely 4th liners probably extras, or vet presence on your farm team.

He's just like Tanner Glass the last year of his contract, only cheaper. Like half the price
