Don’t worry they will make few cheap looking trophies with a prints MADE IN CHINA all over it.
At least we (will)know it’s origin because it’s sure it doesn’t come from the hearts of those who run MSG hockey operations.

What reason does the rest of The GAG line have for being retired?

Do Ratelle and Gilbert enjoy the same success they had without Hadfield? The captain during their Cup run? The only Ranger to ever score 50 goals in a season?..... till Graves came along....

The entire GAG line should've been retired before Graves ever had the chance to break that goal record. #11 and #9 should've been up before Messier and Graves ever got a chance to wear them.... but they're the ones who won the Cup....

Imagine having a line that combined for 139 goals and 312pts in a single season? The line is one of the most iconic lines in hockey history. The 3 of them played together for the better part of a decade. Hadfield was a Ranger for 13 freakin seasons!

Of course he deserves his number retired next to his linemates!

Hadfield laughing in the penalty box for the last two minutes of the Stanley Cup playoffs vs. Flyers who eliminated the Rangers is reason enough to keep his number from being retired.

I don't get this also.

Graves was questionable. But, he was part of the 4 horseman to end '1940'. When the other 3 say we don't do it w/o Graves & he should be up there, well he will be up there. I think also what played a big part according to Maloney is the work he does for the Rangers & community. Maloney says that's the message you want to send to the young players coming in & no better message than Graves.

Semenko played with Gretz & Kurri, that's not a argument for retiring a #.

I'm on the fence with him. Hadfield was a good player, not great. What I remember most about him is disappearing against the Flyers period, let alone his late game hilarity. Graves played with the best players, and never ever disappeared on the ice, scored 50, and always had his teammates backs. And was a huge fan favourite because of all that, and a off ice icon and team representative. Adam Graves was everything I'd want a Ranger player to be, on and off the ice.

It's all about The GAG line. He was 1/3 of one of the greatest lines in all of hockey history.... let alone Rangers' history..... and the other 2/3 of that line are up there already.

They want the line up there and honored forever, as it should be. Not 2/3 of it.... the whole line. Hadfield by himself doesn't make sense, but it's all about immortalizing The GAG line

Hadfield never come close to duplicating his numbers before or after unless of course your talking about his second and third best goal scoring seasons playing for the Pittsburgh Penguins when he barely topped 30. Ratelle and Gilbert had many great statistical years. There was a lot of scoring in those days. To call them one of the greatest lines in hockey history is a typical New York smoke up your azz stretch, many would say they were one of the most disappointing playoff lines in hockey history. . Won't argue one of the Rangers best, but that's more a reflection of the mostly disappointing Ranger history. Gilbert and Ratelle were great players, Hadfield not even close. Greatest lines in history didn't get fed their lunch every time they come up against Boston, Philadelphia and Montreal when the money was on the line. Their knock was big regular season no show in the playoffs. I grew up in that era and there were huge expectations for the Rangers and their three line depth, always followed by pathetic losses to the aforementioned teams. They had it right with Ratelle and Gilbert's numbers up there. If your sticking Hadfield up there you can make the argument Thachuk who did as much or more for the Rangers, should be to.
