He had a strong preseason. I get the feeling someone will put a claim in for him at $875k.

Would have much preferred Belesky to McLeod but they fill someone different roles, even though they're at roughly the same spot on the depth chart.

JVR out 6 weeks with an injury

He's very slow to heal, it feels like it was 6 weeks, three weeks ago.

So Beleskey is healthy and is on waivers while JVR wants to play but he is injured and belongs to another team.
Basically JVR is frakedup as a Ranger.

If he clears, does he have to clear again to come back up and play?

I could understand wanting him to put in reps in for Hartford before stepping in to the NHL again

Correct... and if he clears he can be sent up/down freely for 30 days without having to clear again.

So silly why not have him get his game back in Hartford first?

Rather throw him into the fire, and hope his game is back to where it needs to be?

He had a full training camp...He could easily get back in game shape at practice....He can play hockey Cody cannot...and they expose him to other teams to lose him....They give up assets for McQuaid

They are probably hoping somebody grabs Belesky. If not, he gets in shape in Hartford and he only costs the Rangers half on the cap.

I thought they signed him after. My bad. I guess they had to take his contract back to get the first which was worth it. The schmuck is has one more year on his contract after this. Yuck. Sadly, he's still a lot better than McLeod. I hate the Spooner and Namestnikov signings more every day.

Belesky looked ok til he got hurt, going after a much bigger stronger player to stand up for his team, but it’s ok Matt the Rangers got this.

Fine for him to get back into game shape in Hartford, I'm not complaining about him going to Hartford as long as its not to bury him there.

Once he's in game shape though, I think IMO that they should bring him up and send down McLeod.

Belesky should play 5 games or less and be back up here. Lettieri has had a real good opportunity and basically nothing has happened. Time to move on.

After last nights shutshow the Rangers will soon have to follow a Junior hockey teams standard playbook and do some roster juggling. Junior hockey teams can trade, sign, or buy replacement hockey players, and get rid of floaters, malcontents and pretty boys in a hurry. In Garrys salary cap beer league its hard to do much roster maneuvering especially with a farm system without ready for prime time players. Sorta like where the Rangers are at. Anybody can see Spooner, Namestnikov, Chytil, McLeod, Lettieri, Staal, McQuaid, and Shattenkirk, hope I didn't miss any, are passengers contributing very little, except weak opposition. In normal hockey leagues you have a avenue to dump dead wood, in the NHL you can get lucky at the deadline and move some, and try to move more over the summer where the typical offloads take place, but rare mid season opportunities.
The thing about the Rangers coach trying to sell the underdog scrappy, hard nosed, competitive sales pitch to his players is if they don't get rewarded with some wins, the will to compete weakens more and more as losses pile up. Rangers are on that track, if they stay on it and the coach can't keep them competitive and playing hard then what? Assuming they have already done some roster juggling without any more success, then the next step in the playbook is fire the coach. There is no other step other than carry on with players not responding and the same coach. I feel for Quinn he's in a spot already where he's not far from his coaching and motivational abilities coming under intense scrutiny.
The concern isn't if the Rangers compete and battle every night, its the Rangers quitting on the coach, because as losses pile up its how it works.

FWIW I thought last night's game was the worst so far this season, from a compete/battle standpoint. There have been other games where they seem to have taken a period off or at least have been inconsistent with their compete level, but it seems like no one showed up last night.

The prospect development plan needs a reevaluation specifically Chytil. IMO he should go to Hartford as I mentioned elsewhere, who comes up is a moot point no callup is going to make much difference unless it’s Belesky and only if he finds his pre big contract scoring prowess.
The bigger story shaping up is Gordon’s body of work showing some cause for scrutiny. The Stepan trade is officially open to question based on the drafting of a more NHL ready player Andersson still in the minors, and the other piece languishing on the bench. Although with McQuaids injury hope is DeAngelo can get in and play well enough to stick or its pretty much bye bye Tony. And then it’s on Andersson to try to salvage the trade by becoming a important piece. Howden is making the McDonagh, Miller trade look better and assuming Hajek can play and the picks turn out it will be a palatable trade. The only irritant is Namestnikov, who has as much physical talent as any Ranger yet disappoints almost nightly. Yzerman really unloaded one there. I’m a admirer of Namestnikov talent, but he’s got to start using it or the Rangers have paid high and will soon sell low.
