Not that it was a slam dunk, but Fast not shooting for the empty net in that situation tells me he is not the guy you want on a winning team (as if we were a winning team). I wouldn’t have been upset if a shot was blocked or he missed the net, but to be so passive in that situation tells me he is not a winner. Perhaps AV gets an NHL job with a team soon, so we can trade the teachers pet.

Rangers rebounded with a very good effort. I thought Namestnikov was outstanding especially getting in on the forecheck and anticipating and getting to areas the puck was going. He looked real good wit Zib and Zucc. It was also a bit of a relief to see the effort ratchet up by most. Last night was a indication of the type of scrappy team they can be.
And isn't it time to send McLeod, Chytil and Lettieri to Hartford and bring up Belesky, Fogarty and find another fourth liner. The obvious kneejerk reaction is to bring up Andersson to replace Chytil, just as Andersson is finding and improving his game where he is. A lot of people don't believe it but they will both improve more in Hartford as 1 and 1a centers than in Chytils present situation. Once the trades happen removing a couple three forwards off the roster after Christmas or even at the trade deadline, those two should both be toughened up mentally and physically seasoned to compete in the NHL.

Agree 100%. Hoping Buchnevich is taking notes on how Names has improved. But I'm beginning to have my doubts on him. Chytil is similar. When I see him on the ice away from the play or close to it while not being involved, he just glides around with no urgency. They both have talent but talent alone is not enough in this league.

I agree on bringing up Beleski and Fogarty of Fontaine. Andersson should wait and play with Chytil (not the same line). Maybe Lias' work effort will rub off on Chytil. Make Lias the 1 and Chytil the 1a and challenge him to overtake the 1 spot.

Draft more Howdens ....playing Heatl on the 4th line with McCleod is an abject failure....4th line is where all the scrubs play and that leaves Heatl more open to getting roughed up....put him with the skill guys

He's not a 4th liner, but also not a top 3 or 6. He's a solid 3rd line player who can play up when needed and no one else available. A better version of Moore. I remember he went from 4th line to 1st because of injury and did just fine. Fast is cut from the same cloth.

I will give you he can be a 3rd liner in a pinch....but you see the games ...he got killed on here last night..."Fast is where scoring chances go to die" lol

Fast is one of those guys buzzing around looking busier than a cut cat. Most time in another teammates kitchen leaving that teammate one less option because Fast is standing beside him. Playing his position gets lost in his running around looking busy. He’s got hands of stone, and he’s not much in the playmaking dept either. His whole game is looking busy, and if that’s your prerequisite to define a good player then he’s awesome, because no one looks busier. But if your definition includes accomplishments then a good player he’s not so much. He looks busier than can be forechecking but more often than not loses the puck battle. A sniper he’s not. Guys like him create the impression they are the hardest working player every shift, by looking busy. Start watching to see what he actually accomplishes, it’s not near as impressive as his ability to look busy.

Until we get somebody better to replace him with it's moot.

This is true, the only thing preventing a team even worse is the goaltending. The goalies are keeping the Rangers in games (so far). How long can they take 30-40+ shots per game & keep it up?!?

5. New York Rangers: Their biggest obstacle to contending for Hughes is the presence of goalie Henrik Lundqvist in their lineup. By their own admission, the Rangers are retooling their roster. They were last in the Metropolitan Division last season, ranking 22nd in goals and 28th in goals against. David Quinn’s fresh coaching approach probably won’t be enough to immediately improve the team. The Rangers were 23rd in the NHL last season, and the Buffalo Sabres, Arizona Coyotes and Chicago Blackhawks should pass them this season in the overall standings.

So what? One game? Who’s the fool? This is the top pro league in the world, where winning’s not everything, IT’S THE ONLY THING! One game can cost you a season. Fast is not a winner, and to call him the best player on the team is the most idiotic thing I’ve ever read on this board, even coming from our resident idiot. You’ve outdone yourself this time.

Buch has just as many points as Fast playing in two less games. 3 goals for Buch 1 for Fast, he's also a +2 while Fast is a -2. What exactly isn't he doing?

I think he may get a break from us posters because he's young and has a lot of potential. He definitely has a much higher ceiling than Fast, no question about that.
