Chytil starting to score which is a great thing. Quinn has done a nice job with him creating a environment for him to have some personal success. I’ve been unable to see the last four games he’s scored in so don’t have a handle on the rest of his game but carry on scoring Chytil. And keep coaching Mr. Quinn.

I don't know if this is part of Quinn's strategy or not, if so it's paying off in spades.

A couple of weeks ago we were talking about sending Chytil down due to his lack of point production. I said his underlying statistics were good, keep him up if you can play him with talent, otherwise if you're going to continue playing him with McLeod, Hartford is a preferable option.

They brought him up, gave him ice time and more PP time and he's blossomed.

Similarly, Howden started on the fourth line and after a short while was promoted.

Lias is on the fourth line now, and people are complaining. Perhaps it's all part of the plan. Seems to have worked for our other two wunderkinds.

I don't think its anything new to put young kids on a fourth line, and at some point in time, if they are only there to see them earn their spurs, and if you see the kid is doing all the little things but is stifled by his linemates, then its promotion time. It happens at lower levels of hockey all the time where there isn't the need to load up a fourth line with arm draggers. Younger players start with the minimal ice time and work there way up or down. If they compete physically and can handle the game defensively they move up, if they struggle mostly competing physically, they are sent back to a lower level until they can compete physically. The key is the coach has to see the improvement in the young players confidence and game, making him worthy of a promotion. The NHL is headed in that direction, you can play, and not just fight or your not in the league. Quinn who has the benefit of game tapes and watching a probably more relaxed player in practice, is pushing all the right buttons so far.
Howden's talent was obvious to Quinn if not many others, and he moved past all but Hayes and Zibanejad in a hurry. Has a high ceiling, and also puts a bar out there for Chytil and Andersson to strive for. Hockey players all want to be the first line PP guys, seeing Howdens success is a confidence builder for Andersson and Chytil as they try to surpass his success.
