THE MATCHUP

The Rangers play their 32nd game of the 2018-19 season and continue a three-game homestand Sunday, Dec. 16, against the Vegas Golden Knights at Madison Square Garden (12:30 p.m. ET - TV: MSG Network, Radio: ESPN 98.7 FM). All three games during the Blueshirts' current homestand are against Pacific Division opponents. Including Sunday's contest, New York will play four of its next five games at MSG. The Blueshirts have earned at least one point in 14 of the last 20 games (11-6-3 record), in 17 of the last 26 games (13-9-4 record), and in 18 of the last 28 games (14-10-4 record).

RANGERS VS. GOLDEN KNIGHTS

  • 2018-19: Sunday's game is the first of two meetings between the Rangers and Golden Knights, and the only meeting between the two teams at MSG. Following Sunday's game, the Rangers and Golden Knights will face each other on the following date: Jan. 8 (at Vegas).

HOME SWEET HOME

The Rangers have earned at least one point in 10 of the last 11 home games (8-1-2 record), in 11 of the last 13 home games (9-2-2 record), and in 12 of the last 15 home games (10-3-2 record). New York is tied for eighth in the NHL in home wins this season (10).

YOUTH SERVED

Only 10 NHL rookies 20 years old or younger have tallied 11 or more points this season, and the Rangers are only one of two teams that have two of those players (Chytil and Howden). In addition, the Rangers are one of four NHL teams that have at least two rookies (of any age) who have tallied 11 or more points this season (Chytil and Howden). Prior to 2018-19, the last time the Rangers had two rookies 20 years old or younger who recorded 11 or more points in the same season was 1987-88 (Brian Leetch and Ulf Dahlen).

SMOOTH SAILING ON THE PACIFIC

Since the start of the 2015-16 season, the Rangers have posted a 35-12-5 record in 52 games against Pacific Division opponents. The Rangers have also posted a 21-4-2 record in 27 games against Pacific Division teams at MSG over the span.

THREE'S COMPANY

Including team goals awarded for a shootout win, the Blueshirts have registered three or more goals in each of the last four games, in 15 of the last 21 games, and in 20 different games this season.

ON POINT

The Rangers are the only NHL team that has six defensemen who have tallied two or more goals this season. Blueshirts defensemen have tallied 12 goals over the last 18 contests.

KING HENRIK

Henrik Lundqvist has been selected as one of the game's Three Stars in 11 of his 24 appearances this season. Lundqvist has made at least 30 saves in 15 of 24 appearances this season, and he has posted a .900 SV% or better in 18 of those 24 appearances. He is tied for first among NHL goaltenders in games with a .900 SV% or better this season. Lundqvist has posted an 8-3-2 record, along with a 2.20 GAA and a .932 SV% in 13 appearances at MSG this season. In his last eight appearances at MSG, he has posted a 6-0-2 record, along with a 2.08 GAA and a .936 SV%.

HEY HEY HAYES

Kevin Hayes has posted a multi-point game in each of the last three contests (three goals, three assists). He has also recorded 20 points (six goals, 14 assists) in the last 20 games. Hayes has registered 197 points in his NHL career, and 155 of the 197 points have either been a goal or the primary assist on a goal.

CHYTIL-MANIA

Among NHL players who are either in their age 18 or age 19 season, Filip Chytil is tied for fourth in goals (five) and games played (31), and is tied for sixth in points (11) this season. MIKA MAGIC

Nineteen skaters are warming up for the @NYRangers so they'll make a decision on Hayes after warmup. According to the lineup they just provided, Hayes is in, Lias Andersson is the fourth line left wing, with Boo Nieves at center and Ryan Strome on the right.
