Another ridiculous game today by Kakko. Some great goals. Strength and speed. I think we are getting Hughes, and that's okay to me. Both will be studs, but Kakko looks unreal. The worst place to be is # 3 missing out on these two studs. Right now I think the Devs take Kakko.

One thing to remember...This Tournament means absolutely everything to the Euro teams...compete level etc... is through the roof. Also Kakko is playing on the larger ice surface...game is faster on the NHL ice surface

World Championships are an inferior tournament. And I'm saying this as a European who used to watch them every year in full.

Kakko has been playing against men already, knows the wider rink, plays on the top line. In this tournament, he's holding all the cards compared to Hughes.
No way take the Devil's this little tournament as a decisive factor.

Plus there's a lot more to picking a no 1 pick if it's this close.
Lots of background checks and other non public information coming into play.

You always take the center unless the wing is an Ovechkin type. I hope the Devils are dumb and take Kakko. You win cups with center depth. If Hughes slipped to us it would allow us to not use Kravtsov, Chytil or Andersson at center which I'm a big fan off. Howden is the natural center of that group. Hughes will also make his wings better as he fills out. Kakko will make great plays no doubt. However, either Kravtsov, Chytil and Andersson will have to take second center role. I'm not confident in any of them to do that. I think Kravtsov is a pretty good lock to be a top line wing. Not sure about a center. What I'd love to see is them package a Pionk with a Chytil and the Jets pick to go get a Cozens. That's the kind of guy that will fit in perfectly with Quinn.

Those fancy stick handling moves by Kakko ain't working in the NHL for long. Especially when they start cross checking you in the back of the head a few times.

At days end the odds are the Devs take Hughes. With that said this is very close, and Kakko has played against men for a while now. Downplaying what he has done in Finland, or in the Worlds through two games, I think is faulty. He has been pretty dominating for two games, and at worst was very good this season as an 18 year old against men.

It's probably the 5th or so best league in the world he plays in. Not bad doing the things he has done as an 18 year old. His comp has been better than Hughes' comp though, that's for sure.

People get caught up in comparing. To me I think both will be studs, so adding either one is a huge win.

Getting Hughes would make life a lot easier. Put Kravtsov and Andersson on wing.

Was watching some Hughes highlights. He knows how to find all the lanes, buy time to make the passes when he enters the zone. He needs to fill out his frame quite a bit. However, he will make his wings a lot better. I though Zibanejad finally started doing that this year. I have high hopes for Howden. He had a pretty good rookie season for a player so young. That long, goal drought got in his head a little that happens to a lot of players that young.
