And I suppose you always have to keep the door open that Fox changes his mind and signs with Carolina in the end ... we shall see...

Might be hard to trade him if the other team isn't convinced Fox would sign with them

Fox is listed at 5'11" 180 lbs...3rd round pick and there are questions about his skating....I am not going to crazy over him just yet

I don't know what to tell you Mikey.... no one ever said he was a generational talent or anything. But if the Rangers have the opportunity to get a young guy who could be a second pair RHD who is at or near NHL ready, for basically pennies on the dollar, then you get him. I don't think I'd trade a first rounder for him but beyond that I'd be pretty open.

Don't go crazy because he's the second coming, but rather, go crazy if the Rangers can add a good young prospect for cheap.

Yeah they usually let the agents sort this out before the deal gets done. Fox would hold the cards here since he basically controls where he goes, or else, he just goes back to Harvard. If he can keep the bidding down to a small number of teams then the acquisition price gets lower and lower.

If Fox is listed at 5'11" then that means he is smaller than Pionk

Yeah, we got 90 points out of him so far, and all it cost us is an ELC contract - young, cost controlled... sure he's not a top liner but what is the downside of signing a Vesey, or a Hayes which we flipped for assets, or a Fox? There's no downside here. Just be realistic about what you expect from him.

Let's say we trade a second round pick for his rights and he signs here on an ELC.... just imagine that we drafted him with a second round pick, and instead of having to wait 3 or 4 years until he's ready, instead he's just ready now.

Pronman ranked Fox at 44 in his mid-season rankings, a few spots above K'andre Miller (47) to give you a rough estimate of how he's regarded. And we spent a first rounder on Miller, and he's probably still a couple of years away.

Vesey was also a 3rd rounder...He has an NHL body...I like Vesey....Same thing with Hayes...NHL body. If Miller is behind Fox thats worrisome

Adam Fox is a damn good hockey player. Size is the only thing he is missing, but 5'11" isn't THAT small... especially in today's NHL.

A lot of top D are around the same size.... Will Butcher... Charlie McAvoy....

Adam Fox has put up better NCAA numbers than both of those players

He has more points per game than Cale Makar and Quinn Hughes.

If you wouldn't be excited about having this kid in our system, it would.... I have to believe.... be because you know nothing about him other than he's 5'11"

He would instantly be one if not THE top prospect in our system.

I read what the NHL executives said in the Lebrun article...you need to be able to skate in today’s NHL...I freely admit I know nothing about Fox...Pionk is listed at 6’0”....let that sink in....my position is to not believe the hype anymore...been there done that with this team....MSG propaganda machine works OT these departments

What hype? Nobody is saying the kid is the next coming. But he's a good young prospect that's available for cheap, why wouldn't get excited about that. He's not projected to be a top pair guy but if you can get a 23 year old NHL RHD and it only costs you a mid-round pick then that's a huge win for your team.

Pionk being 6'0 has absolutely nothing to do with Fox... you need to stop looking at height and weight when you evaluate players. It's a red herring.

I have no issue signing him as a UFA....I am not in favor of trading draft picks....But do you remember when we got Gilroy? MSG almost threw a parade for him...2006 Bobby Sanguinetti...JM every night ..."wait til you see this kid" The Vesey sweepstakes there was a media frenzy...The hype around him is not the player that we got....I like Vesey but he is nothing special...There is crazy Fox hype in the tritteratti lol....Pionk is listed at 6'0" ...He is not even close to it...so Fox might be same size as him....Pionk is a terrible defenseman but a very good skater...that is why he is still here

Tell ya what Mikey - you have to start listening to the right people. Turn your twitter off and find some resources that go in depth about prospects, and what their strengths are and what their weaknesses are. Vesey was always projected to be a third liner, and if you got lucky, maybe he has top 6 potential. The hype about vesey is that players his age and NHL ready don't ever go to UFA so he was "special". No one said he was going to be elite. Gilroy, same thing - you don't usually get the chance to get a free asset. Same with Tomas Pock.

First rounders.... they're great and all but you can't judge for a few years at least. The best you can do is look at their year over year performance and see if their development is stalled or progressing. Turn off the twitter, it's more crap than gold.

Fox, if we do happen to get him, is 100% worth a second or third round pick. Even then I'd say he probably has a 50/50 shot of playing in the NHL next year. All these prospects are unproven until they've been given a fair shot at the NHL. The hype isn't that he's going to come here and score 20 goals his rookie year. Don't believe anyone that tells you he's NHL ready. The hype is that the Rangers can substantially improve their prospect depth at defense, for basically nothing.

OK stick to TSN and Pronman. Pronman had Fox ranked 44th best prospect in January, K'andre Miller was 47. Fox is potentially ready next year, Miller might need another couple of years. They both have top 4 potential, but both are not expected to be elite defensemen. If all works out well they'll be good two way defensemen, Miller might be a little more physical and Fox may have some more offensive talent. We'll have to see how each adjusts to the pace of the pro game. There's also a good chance that neither one will be NHL regulars. That's just the way it works with prospects you hit on some and miss on others. But if you have more assets the better the chances of hitting on one.

So there you go, be happy there's something to potentially be excited about prior to the lottery, maybe we can add an asset. That is good news in itself.

THE top defensive prospect

https://www.tsn.ca/top-50-nhl-affiliated-prospects-1.1241869

TSN had Fox as the 12th best prospect a couple months ago... Kravtsov was #1... Cale Makar was/is regarded as the top defensive prospect followed by Quinn Hughes, Erik Brannstrom, then Adam Fox...

Fox finished with more points then both Makar and Hughes playing in the same league... he had more points per game than anyone in the NCAA this year

Harvard put up a highlight reel of him a few hours ago as he's a Hobey Baker finalist.... he very well may win it....
