MVP Posts: 6799 ![]() | Its not passing the smell test with the report its a neck injury. With his history of concussions its much more likely a concussion. Pretty quiet on the Rangers end with info on the injury.

Post concussion syndrome is only addressed by complete and total rest. Any physical exertion can bring it back on or even make it worse. I got zapped pretty bad once upon a time and I felt like crap for a few months. This was before we had the awareness that we have now. I tried to work through it and get back to working out and playing and it set me back every time. It sucks to think that the Rangers' fortunes essentially hang on Zib making a good recovery and not having his bell rung again in a game where guys like Zib are routinely in high traffic areas.

MVP Posts: 6799 ![]() | Assuming this is a concussion and I do, it brings up the question should the Rangers gamble on Zibs long term health or be realistic and proactive in rehabilitating and try to sell high on him. He’s already had to many concussions and the last one he was out for awhile. I think he’s on eggshells already, only a good knock away from a potential career ending concussion. There would be real good trade opportunities for him out there, players and picks and more 18-20 year old talent. One bad knock and he might be out a long long time.

If we are having this conversation, what makes you think NHL GMs are not having the same conversation? Who would trade for a guy with potential concussion issues that could end his season and possibly his career?

All-Star Posts: 2773 ![]() Location: NJ | Some players are just prone. All of us have seen some players end up concussion(s) over & over again, when others in the same situation, nothing, just fine. This is 1 of those players. I see a short career, & this is too bad, because he is a good player, & plays hard, very popular on the team, an actual leader on a team like the Rangers that lack leader(s). The buyer gambles on the short term use.

The same GM's who were interested in Rick Nash, Ryan McDonagh, etc. It enters the discussion when they discuss trades, but it doesn't eliminate all possible trades.

All-Star Posts: 1149 ![]() | Crosby and Bergeron have had far worse concussions. Any player at any time can get a concussion. It's not hard if you are hit the wrong way. I do believe this is his 6th concussion. So if it was me, no, I would not gamble on him or expect much from him going forward. What I would do is make a very strong effort to package Kravtsov and DeAngelo at the deadline for a number 1 center prospect and pull the trigger on that deal. One, I don't think Kravtsov is a center. Two, I think he has some bust in him. Three, I think DeAngelo is going to be sitting there with 50 points at the deadline and with Lundkvist about ready, there is no need for DeAngelo here. Fox, Lundkvist and DeAngelo are all 5'11. Trouba is going nowhere. One has to go. This Zibanejad concussion if that is what it is which seems likely, will now force the Rangers into making a move for a number 1 center prospect. All-Star Posts: 1149 ![]() | Right now the best thing the Rangers have going for them is DeAngelo's offensive production. If he continues this his trade value will be crazy high. He wanted more money accomplishing nothing this year. I would expect him to ask for more or as much as Skjei after this season. No thanks.

MVP Posts: 6799 ![]() | The Rangers have three legit lines, fourth line is still a project, but better to be working on that than one of the top three.
