I like Gettinger.

I wonder what this 4th line is... Especially if Mika and Kakko are both back by next game.

Read some article saying something like

Panarin Strome Kakko
Kreider Zibanejad Buchnevich
Lemieux Chytil Fast
Gettinger Howden Smith

That’s the only thing that makes sense especially since they didn’t call Fogarty or Nieves up. It’s also pretty good top three lines. If the three centres can continue their fine play it will be a good start.

Gettinger, Fogarty, Nieves... What's the difference? All borderline NHL 4th liners. At least Anderson gets minutes now. Let him play most of the season there, and see what we got in the spring.

Andersson should get used to the new Pack coach. He is going to be coaching the team next year and for the long term and this college schmuck Quinn is fired at the end of the season.

Gettinger could be a nice bottom 6 guy. Hope so.

I could care less if Gettinger only gets 9 minutes of icetime. However, Gettinger just makes the already existing problem of our role players worse. That is no speed.

Not sure what to think about Andersson, but it was obvious he was spinning his tires. Didn't like the pic with Middlestadt sitting there, who is also not lighting any fires, but has become a regular in Buffalo. That draft wasn't exactly a great one and Chytil is going to be in the mix for best player from that draft picked after Andersson, if he continues his progress. Its one thing to take the obvious pick and fail which Middlestadt was, and another thing, when you reach for a Andersson and fail, if that s what he turns out to be. Either way he has to go to Hartford and be the best player down there til well after Christmas. Enough with bouncing this kid around. Rangers can share lots of blame for how this kid was handled. Hopefully Knoblauch can get him back on course.

Lias just turned old enough to buy beer in America this month... There's no worry about him being sent down.

Though none of us agreed with it at the time.... look how often JT Miller was yoyo'ed back and forth between Hartford and the 4th line to the 2nd line.

Andersson isn't a bust.

The question is though... will he ever get a true opportunity to grow here in NY?

Zibanejad
Chytil
Howden

Those are your top 3... Strome is in there...

Then we also have this Morgan Barron with 6g 6a in 6gp and could be NHL ready for next season...

And Karl Henriksson is also making noise in the system.

Even if he gains all sorts of confidence in Hartford, we may want to trade him regardless

The NHL is a young mans league, teams are crying for entry level contract players that can play to fill out their roster. Andersson has had lots of opportunity, to show he is ready for more ice time and responsibility and has failed every time. This last stint he showed next to nothing, posters on here can make all the excuses they want, but even McKegg and Smitty were more effective in their role. Anyone dumb enough to believe if Andersson played with Buchnevich and Kreider, that he would have been better has a lot to learn about working your way up a lineup. He’s not even close to playing at the NHL level with two players like that. He’s a bust, trade bait for significantly less than his cost, unless Gorton pulls off a deal for another first round bust.

Not sure why fans believe that a coach would purposely stunt the growth of a young player by not playing him in a position where the young player can succeed. Especially when that player is the #7 pick overall. Ruining the GM's pick in the first round is not a formula for job security if you're the coach. So let's stop with the whining about how Andersson is legit NHL star who's being held back by a sinister coach.

I understand when you root for a team and root for a particular player that represents hope for the future. Heck, I thought John Muckler screwed over Manny Malhotra years ago. I'm hoping Andersson can live up to his draft position because that means the team will be better. But he's been a disappointment, plain and simple.

As a side note, Haley getting waived may please some fans and may have been warranted given his undisciplined play. But keep in mind what the Rangers have (and don't have) to deal with their divisional rivals. Here's a video clip of the Caps vs Ducks, and note what the Caps bring as far as a physical, nasty 4th line. Because the Isles and some others can bring it as well. I don't know enough about Gettinger, obviously he's big, but I hope he can stand up for his teammates.
