Another PP for the Rangers and still not shooting from the point , end of the period 0-2, shots 17-12

Here's what I don't understand....PP was working great with Panarin on left side...why is he suddenly on the right side?

Cause our coach is stupid.

Well the PP hasn't really been working, and the return of Ziabnejad changes things up, so I think it's more the case of trying to re-organize the unit to see if they can get something going....

This. 4 rightys on the first pp unit and panarin on his clearly less preferred side. Dumb.

Panarin and Zib seem to work best from the goalie's right. They need to be separated.
Tony D is a drive to the net to score guy, not a fire away from the point guy. He ends up playing catch with the wing guys. This is useless on a pp especially if they are using 1 central d man at the blueline. Trouba should be out there on the first unit to bang away with a slap shot. That would mean the D would have to come out farther to account for Trouba and open up the slot. Shooting causes chaos for the d.

It should be

Panarin Kreider Kakko
Zibanejad Fox

Obviously Zib takes the faceoff, but I want Kreider set up in front of the net

2nd unit

Strome Chytil Buchnevich
DeAngelo Trouba

Personnel for a power play depends on the style of the PP you want to run. X's comments are noted with Trouba pounding pucks from the point but the Rangers are not really built for a a shoot and bang and crash the net PP, using their best players. They could throw out a Trouba, Fox or DeAngelo and Lemieux, Kreider, Kappo and or Strome to have a shoot and bang PP on occasion and to switch things up. But sending Panarin, Buchnevich, Zibanejad ect chasing rebounds is a misuse of player assets and doomed to failure. Kappo who could bang and crash has the creativity and the smarts to also excell on any type of PP. But the Rangers high end players have the type of talents more suited to what Quinn is doing. The Rangers are sitting 16th in overall % and once they figure out what to do with everyone now that Zib is back they will get things clicking. To much talent not to. The good news is they have a lot of potential parts and could throw out a couple different PP units that go about things totally different to throw a curve at teams. Teams also have different penalty killing stats depending on the type of PP they are defending, so some nights the shoot and crash might be more effective than the more skilled unit.
