10 p.m. ET; CBC, SN, SN360, SN1, CITY, MSG, NHL.TV

The Game

The Vancouver Canucks will try to extend their season-long winning streak to seven games when they host the New York Rangers at Rogers Arena on Saturday.

Goalie Jacob Markstrom will start; he has won his past five starts with a 2.79 goals-against average and .924 save percentage.

The Rangers, who look to avoid their third consecutive loss, are 3-5-1 in their past nine games. Goalie Alexandar Georgiev, who was pulled after allowing six goals on 24 shots in 7-5 loss at the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday, will start.

"He's played well for us, well deserving of it. He has been a starter for a couple years and to see him get acknowledged is good." -- Canucks coach Travis Green on goalie Jacob Markstrom being named to his first NHL All-Star Game on Friday

They have lately, but Buch gets one back.

Rangers get a late break with a post making a big late first period save.

late screened goal by Tyler Myers, unfortunate way for this game to end....was 1:29 away from OT, and the Rangers had played pretty well

This team sucks and the coaching staff is horrible. Probably a good thing they suck. They need to learn how to draft forwards. Hopefully, with JD here they will have multiple first rounders and actually draft some NA forwards who don't suck.

That was a very rough western Canadian trip. Last night was particularly annoying because they had played perhaps their best complete game in weeks but lost on a weak wrister that Georgie got screened on by muttonhead Skjei. If they play like last night more consistently I think they'll win more than not.

This team has a good amount of scoring talent. Their defensive coverage is suspect at times. But you can teach defense, you can't teach scoring talent. I'd rather be watching this team develop, even with the clunkers and bad goals against, than another collection of 30-something's slapped together by Sather hoping to grab a 7th or 8th seed and some playoff revenue for MSG.

It was a tough one. Certainly little in the way of breaks. I think the Rangers are on the right track, its not always as fast a track as one would like and I had hopes it would lead to playoffs this year, but every loss that stings means more mental toughness later. Can they do a rip in Feb March as they continue to mature that might get them into the playoffs next year? That remains to be seen. But make no mistake they are learning things that are going to make them a solid team next year. Lately the Rangers are starting to take real personal these losses and that's a great sign when teams get pissed over losses, it means they don't like it and usually start to put forth the execution and effort required to win many more than they lose. In short as a group they are learning they don't like losing and how much group effort is required to win. The Rangers are doing good things all over the ice often unrewarded but still forming good habits. A few defense personnel moves, Shesty in great form, and I have great faith in this team. And they miss Lemieux's fire a ton.

This is still a work in progress, .500 team at most. I agree the scoring is there. The D is beyond horrible. The leadership is lacking. The killer instinct to put games away or win a tough one is lacking. More moves & more picks have to be made.
