$6.5M, so a little cheaper than anticipated for the extra year

not a bad deal, could have been far worse. Lets see if he continues to play the same way.

Under $7 mill a year was/is going to be a HUGE NYR win.

I think its a good deal for both. His trade would have created a gaping hole in the lineup.

My guess was he wanted either 7 years or 7 million. So if the contract was 6 years it had to be 7 million per. And he would go under that for a 7th year. Of course he could have wanted both but....I think it's a good deal.

NHL Network says Gorton never got the price he wanted for Kreider so it was a disciplined signing. Think this bodes well that Gorton is a smart disciplined GM

So, what it comes down to is: Gorts blinked.

The BIG question though is this: does CK's limited NMC remain the same or did he get a full one?

I think both sides blinked.

Kreider came down on money and Gorton came up on years

Reportedly he has some protection against the expansion draft, so whether that's a NTC, a limited NTC or full NMC we will have to wait and see

If you think you can find somebody with the chemistry Kreider has with Zibanejad, your fn stupid. Not everbody is Panarin who can play with everybody. There are maybe 10 guys in the league like him. They had to sign Kreider. His net front presence causes so many goals. Gorton didn't blink. He knew they had to keep him. As far as Trouba, Skjei and Fast. That's something else.

I completely agree... chemistry is hard to find, for so many years the Rangers were just parts, and never found good line mates Nash, Jagr and so many others... Kreider and Zib will be together for years to come... now give Kreider the C.

Eh...whatever. If they were going to trade him they should've done so a year or so ago. They just weren't going to get what they really wanted in terms of a return, so they chose to keep him. I'm fine with the decision.

Capfreindly has him with a M-NTC with him submitting a 10 team list...

I don't know if they updated that but they updated his salary.

$ is ok, years is not so much. He will have to do 30/60 30 goals, 60+ pt scorer to justify this.
