Could not believe it !!!! The ball popped and the logo was there fro a second or two then it turned and was thinking Toronto. It has been said this kid is the deal !!!! That big center is Byfield is enticing but Lafreniere seems to maybe generational. Best 15 minutes since March!!!!
Just as happy it was not the Pens!

Was so busy with work and didn’t finish until 7:40. The first thing I do, check the draft results. Nearly had a heart attack.

Wow, thank The Jerks for knocking them out. I believe this is the biggest move up in the draft ever, very unlike Rangers with that kind of luck.

Was out of the lockout and basically every team had a chance for #1 overall for Sidney Crosby...the Pens had already gotten Fleury and Malkin in I think two of the previous three drafts a first and a second overall pick. Rangers ended up picking 12th and got Marc Staal, it also was after 7 years of no playoffs

You could see the Ranger logo on the ball when it popped up. What a sight to see. For a team that went heavy on the dmen, winning chances to draft Kakko and Lafreniere is almost surreal.

Had the 04/05 season not been lost, the Rangers would have picked 5th, I believe (I can’t remember if the lottery was in effect). Instead each team received equal weighting in a serpentine draft. They ended up getting the 16th pick and traded up to 12th to select Marc Stall.

IT WAS RIGGED!!!!!!!

Hahahaha just kidding, someone had to say it, right?

I'm quite happy for the Rangers, even though, for many reasons I've stated elsewhere, I'm displeased with the organization. I'm also relieved he did not go to Florida and their bankrupt and toxic situation, and he did not go to the Central where he'd end up with a team I don't like.

As flawed as this organization is, if you can't turn the league's best winger, two top-pairing defensemen, a phenomenally talented young goalie and very good young backup goalie, a high-flying 40-goal-scoring center, and two potentially elite young wingers taken first and second overall in the last two drafts into a winner, you don't deserve to run a franchise.

Rangers are going to have 2 max wingers in a few years. They are not keeping Strome, TDA, Chytil or Buchnevich. Me, I'd offer TDA, Chytil, Buchnevich and our second first for Larkin. Detroit has a hard time passing that up. Sign Fast. Team must get better defensive role players and defensman. Get Lias back and let him center the 3rd or 4th line. Depending on how he is playing. Go with two lefties on the bottom pairing. Who cares. Give Staal one more year. Release Smith. Now you must sign Fast with Lafreniere here and get rid of no defense players like TDA and Buchnevich.

Lafreniere-Larkin-Panarin
Kreider-Zibanejad-Kakko
Gauthier-Howden-Fast
Barron-Lias-Lemieux

Lindgren-Fox
Miller-Trouba
Hajek-Staal

It's exciting to have the prospect of drafting #1 in this upcoming draft, but I think we still have to have realistic expectations, particularly when a young player comes to New York where the pressure can be much greater than say what's happening down in the Tar Heel state with Ahl and Svechnikov.

One player a franchise does not make, it does take a certain level of depth and balance, both of which were exposed in the Carolina series. Fortunately we're not Edmonton, which drafted a series of high-profile forwards, but didn't have the ice time available to them all, and meanwhile did not fix the defense. We're also not the Islanders who have a much tougher time attracting the big names (see Panarin as the latest example, or the speed at which Tavares left).

But we could easily be Toronto, and end up with a team that is unbalanced and have a coaching philosophy which makes it harder to win their share of close games.

Doesn't mean I'm not excited, but obviously one first overall pick doesn't get you the Cup, nor even two, just ask the Devils and Oilers

Number 11 is retired, plain and simple, Laffy will need to find a new number...........
