And the penalty killing which has been excellent. And the improvement on faceoffs. And beating the Caps on the road. Shesterkin with another soft goal allowed at the end of the second period. He makes the occasional spectacular save, but a solid #1 goalie must stop the shots that he's supposed to stop. Another solid game by Brendan Smith, and the rest of the defense. It's fun watching this team grow.

Posts: 849 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Wasn't a soft goal at all. It was a great shot. When will morons in our fan base stop expecting goalies on this team to never let up goals. Give credit to the other team when one of their players makes a great shot. When our player scores that goal, it's a great shot. When the other team does it, it's a soft goal. That crap got old over 10 years ago. Problem with the majority of dopes in our fan base is they don't understand a lot of what they see. When you go to a game and sit low enough the first thing you realize is how freakin hard these guys shoot the puck. From the second it leaves their stick goaltenders for the most part have no time to react. Most every save a goalie makes is due to positioning and angles. If a player like the goal scored against Shesterkin hits a perfect spot towards a corner, it's going in. It's not a soft goal.

Posts: 849 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Dumb comments like that one above with soft goals come from our fan base watching 12 years of incompetent offense in front of Lundqvist where they had to win every game 1-0, 2-1, 3-2. So basically our fan base gave up on calling the offense out and just decided to blame the goalie and defenseman when something didn't go right because they didn't know what else to do. We had imbeciles calling the Ritchie goal soft against Shesterkin. It wasn't soft. It was a great play by Ritchie. Shesterkin made the initial save and Ritchie banked it off of him by putting the puck through a hole barely bigger than the puck. Great play. Not a soft goal. Same crap all over again. Find your balls, be a man and direct your criticism towards the offense which sucks beyond belief and is one of the worst in hockey. Not a goalie that basically is keeping this crap team and mickey mouse coach in games.

Posts: 139 ![]() ![]() | It was a soft goal without a doubt. They talked about it on MSG. It is in the recap articles about the game. Igor should stop that, and the biggest reason he didn't was he was off his angle. But that's okay as he played really well outside of that goal. What happens is you say Igor let in a soft goal, and people take that to mean he didn't play a good game, incorrect. He played a very good game, just let up a goal he'd want back I think. It happens, you move on.

If I had a dollar for every time you said something stupid and were proven wrong I could buy enough bitcoin to hang with Elon Musk. Not sure what play you watched, but Shesterkin got beat on a single, sharp angle shot through his arm by ORLOV, not Ritchie. The shot was taken from the bottom of the circle and went between Shesterkin's arm and his side. He tried to glove it and missed. It was a weak goal that he should have stopped. Now excuse me while I buy some more bitcoin after another stupid post by you.

![]() Publisher Posts: 1111 ![]() ![]() Location: USA | For me a big reason why the Rangers have played well against the Caps is because Washington uses Man on Man in the defensive zone. This team does well against that kind of defense, it gives them the room and time they need, and it also opens up a lot more shooting lanes with players moving all the time. By contrast, a team that stacks the middle of the ice...think the Isles and Boston, the Rangers have difficulty getting the players moving, meaning there's fewer lanes opened up and it's harder to get quality shots. Sometimes teams just match up well against a certain opposition, it appears the Rangers have a bit of an advantage this season against the Caps.

Posts: 849 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | It's the same almost every year with this fane base. Offense sucks, is inept vs. the top teams and the majority of the fan base blames the goalies and defense. I've said it before I was a FA defenseman or goalie I would never want to come here. If I was a defenseman or goalie approaching FA, I would leave. Fan base here is pathetic never holding the forwards accoutable.

Posts: 139 ![]() ![]() | I don't think anyone blamed the goalie for anything. What I think I see was he played a really good game, but let in one soft goal. I don't think I would classify that as blaming the goalie. When the goalie himself says he'd like that one back, I tend to believe him. Igor has played really well his past 6 or 7 games. And his overall #'s are on the way up as a result.
