Overmatched in Washington, but the Caps have run over the Avs as well.

Deserved to win vs. the Stars, couldn't finish and get the winning goal.

Beat the Habs and looked good doing it.

Were outplayed in the second period by the Leafs, badly in fact. But Igor held the fort. What I took from that game as a positive is that in the third period the Rangers got stronger and carried the play for the last 10 minutes. This depsite missing two of the top six forwards.

There is depth and balance on this team. They have speed, skill, and size. They should be fun to watch and a bitch to play against this season.

I think it will take time for Gallant to implement his system and for the team to veer away from whatever the hell it was that Quinn was having them do.

Not surprisingly, Patrik Nemeth has been a complete and total tire fire. He really shouldn't be anything more than a 7th defensemen, and I'm not sure he should even be in the league period. Hopefully some of these youngsters step up and bump him the hell out of the lineup.

Hopefully some wheeling and dealing can be done and the Rangers find some better depth at center. Even with Strome, that center corps ain't good enough. Without him, ugh.

Regardless, a decent-enough start and it's always important to get good goaltending off the bat, which Shestyorkin has provided.

The bottom six forwards (of which they've used eight so far) have combined for 1 point - the empty net goal by Rooney, looking at them, only Filip Chytil has scored 10 or more in a season, but collectively they're generating just 6.5 shots a game, so there's more that could be done there I think.

I'm okay with Nemeth for the moment, I don't think he's as bad as you're describing....certainly not as bad Tinordi/Bitetto level...I'd even perhaps have him edging Brendan Smith in terms of ability. He seems to have the most problem when players are coming at him with speed, but he seems to do pretty well positionally defending against the cycle for the most part.

It's still too early to tell all that much. Plus their schedule is a little unbalanced, starting with a majority of road games. Based on the prior two seasons, I would expect improvement in play and in the standings as the season progresses. Cautiously optimistic.

The size of the lineup is noticeably improved, hitting is up and have there been any fights? Still need a reliable faceoff guy...

Yeah, even Chris Kreider seems to be more physical. He seems to be spending more time in front of the net than he has in past years...less offense off the rush so far, will be interesting to see whether this is just a few game change, or sustained

Rooney and Hunt both need to go. Barron and Richards need to be up. Richards was an elite college faceoff guy and showed that in the pre-season. Barron was easily our best faceoff guy in the pre-season. I'd move Strome to the 3rd line and let Barron take the draws. Strome isn't coming back next season. It's time to develop Chytil with Panarin and Kakko.

The lack of winning faceoffs is killing the PP (capt.Obvious statement right there) and will hurt the PK too. I'd like to give some new faces chances they couldn't do much worse... Zib is OK on faceoffs at times. I did like that Christian Dvorak kid that Montreal snatched up but I think they gave up a lot to get him... (A first in '22 and a second in '24). But what good are a bunch of first round picks if you can't you can't get a center that can win a face off?.

Yep, the faceoff circle is giving the other team the puck more often than not right now

PP FO% 48.3 (23rd)
SH FO% 37.5 (21st)

Even worse, the faceoff stats are being padded a bit by Neutral Zone wins, which are the least important

Offensive Zone 42.5 (29th)
Neutral Zone 49.1 (17th)
Defensive Zone 40.5 (28th)
