Posts: 6822 ![]() | Hope he gets signed and the BS about signing elsewhere stops. He took some strides last year because he is maturing mentally and physically. He was still very much a boy when he first got here and it's tough being a boy in a man's league. He's still going to be a horse, he scored off a Fox feed right in front of the net in the playoffs and when he stood in front of the net and his arms in the air you got a feeling for just how big he is. Looked like his waist was at the crossbar. He must be 6'4" and will be 225ish. With his talent that's a package. He's going to come in next year a man for the first time, no doubt in my mind competing and battling not backing off like the last two years. And reading about his reaction to being benched the final game you got to like the fact he wants to shove it up the coaches waazoo.

They're under some significant Cap pressure the next two years, with Trouba and Kreider both still with NMCs over that term. The Cap is also like to only go up another $1M next season, and not be back to normal until maybe the 2025-26 season. Aside from getting Kakko signed this year, they will also have to deal with re-upping Lafreniere and Miller next year, as well as potentially Blais, Kravtsov and Jones. Kakko's projected $2.3 - $2.5m is also not inconsequential in the grand scheme of things, particularly when you consider that Wing is typically is less impactful than Center... There's also the number of wings the Rangers have. Although Right Wing is less established, the Rangers have Kreider, Panarin, Lafreniere, Blais, Hunt, Reaves and Kravtsov all under contract. They also potentially will use Goodrow primarily on the wing, and have Othmann and Cuylle coming up....so something is going to give. Granted Blais, Hunt and Reaves are all UFAs next Summer, but still something to consider. My preference is to keep Kakko, I do think he showed some promise in the playoffs...as well as in November last year. With all the big contracts the Rangers are now carrying, it's win-now mode, and I think there's a greater risk to some of these young guys as the team chases a championship

They have to give him at least a two year deal, based on both sides understanding it's a show me contract. Kakko has to make that leap to star by the end of the contract. Can't be giving away guys with his upside til you know if he's going to get there.

Publisher Posts: 4459 ![]() Location: USA | I think if an impact 2nd line center is available, Drury might go for it, and if that guys costs over $5.5M, I suspect he might trade one of Kakko or Chytil....maybe even both.

JT has a 6M cap hit. 99 pts last year and 54% on f.o.'s Not real keen on using Kakko for a one-year rental, remains to be seen if this is the case, but think it would be a poor value return. Miller would likely command around $8M a year long term at 30 years old next Summer, that's going to be too much for the Rangers unless they can trade a guy like Trouba or Kreider (both NMCs)

The longer this plays out the more probable the Rangers see another team make a offer. Still no offer sheets. The league does not see any value here and even Drury is holding back. At this moment, he is not worth the $2mill/season number we see in the articles.

Posts: 1125 ![]() Location: 10001 | I was hoping they'd squeeze him a little more. But he's still restricted after this deal so I guess it's ok. Will find out if Quinn ruined him or not next season. I mean if I ruined him.

Posts: 1212 ![]() | Hopefully, the clusterfucks running this team will stop treating the number 1 and 2 overall picks like role players. Playing them role player minutes and not on the first PP.
