So it appears the Rangers and Blackhawks are heading to a trade for Kane. Given the most likely path to freeing up money, we should see Jake Leschyshyn on waivers today, which would allow for a trade on March 3rd.
Multiple reports suggest that the Blackhawks have come down on their asking price, with Kane said to have pushed hard for a move to New York.

Rangers make their NHL debut |
At 8:45PM Eastern time on November 16th, 1926, the Rangers made their NHL debut. At that time the Rangers shared MSG with New York Americans who predated them by a season, and served as the inspiration for Tex Rickard to apply for a franchise. Opening night saw them faceoff against the Montreal Maroons and much to delight of the 13,000 or so in attendance, the debutants pulled out the win, shutting out Montreal 1-0. Bill Cook would score the first goal in Rangers history, and Hal Winkler would post the first win, and first shutout for the franchise. |
