Another Loss
The positive vibe that has surrounded the Rangers since the opening night victory over the Philadelphia Flyers took a hit today, with a loss reminiscent of many in recent memories. New York traveled to the nation’s capital for a Matinee game and appeared to take their lowly opponent too lightly, allowing the Capitals to twice tie the game, and ultimately win it on a two man advantage that should never have happened.
It was apparent early that the Rangers were not respecting their opponents as well they should. The game was a sloppy affair with the puck traveling from one end of the rink to the other and both teams guilty of turnovers in their own zone, the first period giving the visitors a 10-7 shot advantage, but also giving up two hooking penalties that helped stifle any momentum the Rangers hoped to build.
