2026 Trade Deadline

May as well start one to keep the upcoming trade stuff under one roof. Here is the Rasmus Anderson trade.

Andersson to Vegas with 50 per cent retained

Return:

Whitecloud
2027 1st
2027 2nd, becomes a first if Vegas wins Cup this year
Abram Weibe, a defenceman at UND

This should put Panarins value at least on par with this, plus a little bump in talent on the player coming back. As I've mentioned before retain Panarin's contract for the rest of the year, it will only help his trade value.

If you keep him for the rest of the year, you will lose him without getting anything in return.

I'm saying trade him ASAP and retain his cap hit. Opens the door for a lot of teams with little cap room to have a look. Calgary retained 50% of Andersons cap hit. Wouldn't kill the Rangers to retain 100% for the rest of this year.

I thought the rule was a team can only retain a maximum of 50% of the contract.

One team can retain 50%, and there are a maximum of two retentions allowed on the same contract, for a maximum of 75% retention. I didn’t know that. So even 50% helps his marketability, and if a third team in a deal comes along for another 25% all the better. Up to Drury to show some smarts here.

Borgen and Schneider are both tradeable and the Rangers only need one. Not sure why Drury traded for Borgen in the Kakko deal. But then he does like blocking young players paths like Schneider, with players no better. Sorta like Raddysh, Sheary ect. Fire Drury, he screws up this retool/rebuild and it sets the Rangersback 5 years.

Lots of Panarin to Washington babble, which is fine if Leonard comes back.

I really don't think they'll trade him to a team in the division.  My guess is out west if Panarin will allow it.

The Rangers need to trade there players wherever the best deal is. To be a nuisance down the road with Washington they’d have to sign him. And it’s pretty much a given he’s not signing til July 1.

Minor Leaguer

Elliott Friedman saying price for Panerin rental is similar to Brock Nelson last year - top prospect, a first and a third. Rangers will probably retain some salary.

This is Drury's last chance IMO. Once the crowd starts chanting your name to be fired, it's almost impossible to survive in NY. Even if Dolan loves you. Eventually Messier will get in his ear or Sather and tell him Drury sucks, move on.

they added a rule this year that second retention can only be done after I think 75 days on the roster so we won’t see many double retentions going forward
