Laviolette post game describing Kakko as playing with some attitude and edge. Which is evident now, but wasn’t when he was playing not so well. I’ve said a few times he was a boy in a man’s league and it’s starting to look like  maturity might have finally arrived. It’s obvious he’s more physically and mentally able to play his game. He’s taken his lumps maturing, and just maybe he’s on the tipping point of his game taking off. Wouldn’t that be terrific heading down the stretch. And he ain’t going anywhere till the Rangers see how far this new confidence is going to take him.

Or... the prospect of being traded to Buffalo lit a fire under his ass

A little extra motivation. But the root cause of his improvement is maturity.

let's not judge him over a handful of games as he has to prove he can sustain it and not turtle in the playoffs. There are some good signs but there is also some history of sub par performance...

However the 1 negative i took out of last nites game was that Edstrom, Rempe and Cuylle all played under 9 minutes with Rempeonly getting around 5minutes... Gonna need to roll 4 lines in the playoffs.

Agree on the fourth line. Kakko has turned a corner it’s onwards and upwards, with good and off nights like all players. The point is he has never looked as good as he has since the move to the line he’s on. And he’s the one driving the line, which is something else he has never done. He’s come a long ways this year.
