Imagine a league where a way overpaid, 31 year old, non-scoring 4th liner gets selected off waivers by the worst team in the NHL in order to meet a cap floor. This is Mickey Mouse stuff. All they had to do was wait a little while longer and get him for a lot less money. That was too big of a risk. I guess the Sharks cannot find any better way to spend Goodrow's $3.6mill cap hit so they can accumulate more than the 47 points they earned last season. What a HUGE improvement for the Sharks.
Hasso Plattner, Sharks majority owner must be so proud. FYI - Plattner is only worth $11,800,000,000 - yes $11.8 BILLION. Good thing his team is below the cap floor. He seems to be really trying hard to compete for a Cup.
The other reason for the Goodrow selection could be some secret handshake deal the Rangers made with the Sharks.
Either way - this is good news for the Rangers. At least they continue to try to win.
