J.T Miller willing to go to just one team - the Rangers

Fish nails it with his 2 posts about Miller. He is a bad head who cannot play consistent D. One more thing to add - he is still a turnover machine like he was when he was with the Rangers. Just imagine Miller and Panarin on the same line trying to thread the needle with impossible East-West passes. 🤪

Do you think for one minute Tocchet would want a pussy like Zib back in return? If that’s the case then there’s really something wrong with J.T.
You pretty much nailed it. More likely Pettersen gets traded if one actually does.
Pettersen is not Tocchet's type. He's out of the pussy pail. Which puts him more in favour with Drury than Miller. And I'm not sold on Miller, but they are what they are.
Not sure Drury is an all skill kind of guy, I think that was more Gorton, who I think figured you needed a core set of skill guys that you could add grinder types to. Drury seems to want to add more grit, though not necessarily very effective at it yet. His first year obviously with all those flawed guys (Goodrow - to some extent, Nemeth, Tinord and Reaves), then guys like Carrick this year, and he's been very interested in Miller going back to before Miller signed the current contract.
Miller just seems to be too emotional, and lazy on defense...but doesn't so much shy away from the center of the ice. I don't think he fixes anything, and perhaps worse in the bright lights of New York. The center problem is hard to solve in the short term, and maybe in the long term...top line centers seldom change hands, so the problem becomes when you settle for what you can get and then get stuck with them for too long that it prevents other moves.
I think that's what happened when he extended Zibanejad...he tried to get Eichel, but couldn't figure out a deal (or Buffalo wanted too much to trade in state), and so he had to fall back on an option he had rather than go without a 1st line center altogether. But here we are.
Drury’s belief in Miller might come from old friend Trochek. And thinking he might stir the pot in a good way. He’s well known for a dressing room presence that more often is disruptive. Must’ve better more helpful types out there.

If they need me to bleed, then I'll bleed for my team

A guy like Ryan O'Reilly brings more to the plate in terms of what the Rangers need. Especially his contract. Gives them a quality shut down, faceoff master, gritty center. He's a little less offense than Miller but without the baggage and drama. And he's a leader in a good way. Miller in danger of becoming the forward version of the unwanted Tony DeAngelo has a contract with five more years left, and that will be a cap killer. No way he'd be earning the money, the last 2-3 years. The Rangers would be trading him and eating a huge loss to dump his contract. I hope the Rangers pass.
The guy to focus on moving is Kreider. He's a drag on the team. He only scores goals he contributes very little effort into, always living off his linemates hard work. He's an expert in avoiding any kind of traffic, hanging around the edge always looking for the easy stuff. Terrible along the wall in the Rangers end. Dmen work their bag off to get the puck up to him along the wall and if any pressure on him he dumps it right back to the dman, or the puck goes right by him to the opposing D at the blueline, instead of just being in good position and getting the puck out. That shit sucks so much energy out of dmen. That should be Drury's focus move his ass, for a guy like O'reilly or even Trent Frederics who are both in a Kreider trade equality wheelhouse. And then you can still try to move Chytill if you feel the need, but having a O'Reilly or Frederics around to plug in at center if something happened to Chytill would be a huge plus.

Your description of Kreider sounds an awful lot like Panarin, maybe they can dump him too

From what I've read, Barry Trotz really loves O'Reilly and has no intention of making him available so if that's true, he won't be going anywhere.

Some speculation that the Canes were close to an Elias Pettersson trade, but ended up going the Rantanen route as well. May not be much viable market for Petersson (in terms of teams able to take him on right now AND willing to offer up some value).

I agree with your take on JT except for one thing: I think if they get him, they're stuck with him....even a year down the road, he will be an unwanted commodity. IF someone were willing to take a flyer on him, it would cost us more than it's worth (I think a combination of retaining 50% plus a pick/prospect).Posted by: @cuyllrangerA guy like Ryan O'Reilly brings more to the plate in terms of what the Rangers need. After a couple seasons with the Rangers Miller would be moveable like any player except DeAngelo, but move Miller at what cost is the issue. And that’s what makes acquiring him much to risky, because they will 100% have to go down the get rid of him road in a couple years.

Miller is an overgrown baby who some have painted as some guy who "motivates" his teammates. Nah...he's just a whiny jackass. A very talented whiny jackass, but still a whiny jackass nevertheless.
If I were Drury I would not get Miller, I would most definitely try for Pettersson. Even though he's been struggling of late (and there's concern if the struggles are injury-related) he's a fantastic talent and still quite young.
