Kakko

Has anyone seen Kakko this year? He is M.I.A. Should his picture be on milk cartons? A classic example of a spoon fed high draft pick given way to many opportunities, without sustaining a level of play for the opportunities to continue. At the other end Cuylle showing all young players how to seize a position, intense, gritty play, forget what league it is, do what got you here. Unfortunately Cuylle has to deal with Kakko dragging his line down now. After being dumped from Zibs line Kakko has shown nothing in response. How much longer do you keep playing him? I don't think anyone can expect a Lafreniere step up in play, out of Kakko. Time to get rid of him. At least get a guy on the third line that competes. Must be a sucker GM out there that thinks Kakko has the intestinal fortitude necessary to play in the NHL.Â

Trade Kakko and Jones for Zadarov.

If they need me to bleed, then I'll bleed for my team

If the Rangers want to get to a cup final they will need to get another top 6 right wing. I do not think Wheeler is the solution. Maybe they could get a guy like Buchnevich or even Vetrano( 11g this season) 🙄Â
Kakko is clearly not the solution. He finally got credit for his first and ONLY 2 hits of the season in the 4-1 win over Minne.
Kakko Year 5 - 253 games 45g/55A for 100pts and 18g/20a last season. Only 70 hits in 253 games. Non-hitter Zib had 71 hits in 82 games last season. The marginal scoring, decent D and decent puck possession in the offensive end do not make up for basically never hitting or even pinning a guy on the boards on top of having a big body. He has also missed a ton of games due to injury. Maybe the diabetes makes him more injury prone. On this Rangers team he does not fit on any line.Â
Kakko has European Wide Ice written all over him.
It is hard to crack on the Rangers about picking Kakko. Kakko was picked where most people thought he should be picked. I hope the Rangers can get something back when they trade him.
1 Cup in 84 years

Kakko's been given all kinds of chances, but has not produced. Glad that this coach has caught on. He now plays on the 3rd line, but when you analyze the TOI, it's really the 4th line. In fact, he had the team lowest TOI (10:21) on Saturday.Â
He plays a good defensive game, but doesn't hit. He has no offensive instincts. I'm at the point where I'd rather see Brodzinski instead of this snowflake. I think all our bottom 6 players bring more to the table than Kakko. If we can trade him for a 2nd, I'd be happy.Â

I think one of the things that the Rangers do miss is that Kakko is better defensively than say a guy like Brodzinski or Wheeler who've filled in for him. Would have liked to see more offense from him this year for sure, but do think the other side of the puck is perhaps overlooked in his game a bit
