Did not practice today, and will miss the rest of camp and the start of the season by the looks.  Suffered the injury in the fight with Mayfield apparently.

Maybe Mancini sticks around and has enough gas to show he is a better option and more suitable for Ranger needs than Jones. And Jones can keep on having a good camp and if it comes to it, upping potential trade value.

Jones is replacing Gustaffson - the question is who is replacing Lindgren - again

I figure Ruhwedel (if he's comfortable on the left) might be the first choice, though Mancini says he's comfortable playing either side.  Maybe they give Mancini an audition if he keeps up his strong camp/preseason, but would think "The Chad" is probably the default option, with Mackey a third guy in the mix.

Lindgren has been skating on his own the last couple of days which has to be encouraging

Brooks had an article about playing Rempe over Brodzynski attempting to have a 6’8” forward doing what Stanley Cup champion fourth liners do. Relentless forecheck pressure, impeccable defense by playoffs. And chip in offensively. Hard to disagree with that and hard to disagree with Mancini over Jones for the same reasons. More often than not size will win out in playoffs over skill. It’s a process to find out if they can handle it, and have these guys ready for playoffs. You have to let them buck.

I’m less convinced on Rempe, think his game is a lot more limited still, but the Mancini over Jones option had crossed my mind for sure

Mancini and Rempe have to play to for the Rangers to know if either can be productive come playoff time. If they become a problem and the Rangers lose multiple games because of them, well you have your answer. But I don't see that happening. Productive not just points but quality shifts impacting games, physically, defensively, snarly in scrums. Points a bonus. Brodzinski who I respect for his efforts to carve out a niche only played 3 playoff games last season, and one would expect more of the same this year. He and Jones just don't bring the so necessary physicality needed by the bottom end of the Rangers lineup. I'd bet   more  on Mancini at this point, but you have to use Rempe and live with a mistake or two until he's had a good chance to succeed. If he doesn't, back to Hartford with hope he figures it out in Hartford and ready for a after trade deadline callup.

Rempe's skating still looks shaky but it is hard to tell because we have only seen 7 shifts/3:40. If the coaches thought he could play he would be out there. I think Edstrom looks better than Rempe. Mancini looks like he can play so far, but there is no way they are going to risk Jones on the waiver wire. I see Mancini going to Hartford to play big minutes when Lindgren comes back.

I agree that Edstrom looks like a more complete player than Rempe. I have no problem with Edstrom playing, my problem is Brodzinski playing on the 4th line over Rempe. Rempe and Edstrom should be the 4th line wingers, especially early in the season (first 10 or so games). Brodzinski may be offensively better but Rempe brings an element the Rangers do not have without him.
