The regular season wraps up tonight for the NHL, so figured we should get this game 1 thread up.

Early indications suggest that Laviolette is going to stick with Rempe, meaning Brodzinski would remain a healthy scratch.  Looks like he's sticking with the Miller-Schneider and Gustafsson-Trouba pairs too, so basically the same line-up that won the last two games.

While I'm looking forward to what the Rangers can do in the playoffs, I'm wary of this opponent.  The season series was 2-2, although they haven't played each other since January 14th.

The Caps haven't been giving up many PPs, and are pretty stingy allowing shots and goals, and if they get a lead first the Rangers will have to be very patient.

They're not a very high scoring team, but are one of the best teams in the league at low-scoring wins.

If the Rangers are the team they think they are, they should prevail in a less than 7 game series.

One thing I've learned about being a Rangers fan all these years, is that Game 7s are almost a given

On another front according to Brooks Chytil was flying in practice today. He will be in the lineup, sorry Jack.

Odd that the way the seeding works in the NHL playoffs is that if the the upper seeds hold serve, Rangers will play Carolina (#2 seed) in the second round, instead of getting the lowest remaining seed instead of playing Boston who would be the lowest seed. Doesn't really matter, but if Toronto or Tampa pull off an upset in their series,  Tampa would play Boston or Florida would play Toronto. But the NHL doesn't reseed...DUH

If they need me to bleed, then I'll bleed for my team

I hate the structure they have now, because you end up seeing the same teams much more often.  I was hoping Detroit could've won the 8th seed so we could see someone new

Anyone here old enough to remember when the playoffs were seeded 1 to 16 and were reseeded after every round?

One year the Rangers (#13 seed) upset the #4 overall team (Kings) in Round 1, the #2 overall team in Round 2 (Blues), then lost the 3rd round to the #1 overall team (Islanders) who then won the Cup.

It was crazy back then and seedings and matchups were in flux right up to the last week of the regular season.

I go back to the original 6 (before 1967) We would  watch the NYR at the old MSG on WOR TV9 (actually it was the 3rd MSG (1925 to 1968)) and I went to my first game in 1966 NYR v Maple Leafs). Back then if you won 2 seven game series, you won the Stanley Cup. Which is why Red Wing fans threw octopii on the ice to signify the 8 wins needed to win The Cup.

I guess that makes me old enough to remember 😎

Will not get to watch this one live due to a personal commitment, but would very much like a dominating win, but expecting a very close game that could go either way

I will only  get the ESPN feed...Hopefully Kenny Albert is doing the PxP. #LGR.

Tampa has just scored with 8.3 seconds left still down by 1.

I thought Bolts went with the empty net too early... (~3:00)
