Not a masterpiece but it counts.

5 down, 11 to go.

Had to watch on delay, thought Zibanejad and Trocheck lead again, with Kreider pretty noticeable again today.  Panarin was quietish, but then popped up with the clutch goal, his 3rd game winner this post season.  Thought the forwards in particular were really good coming back to protect the front of the net, again with the three forwards above being involved the most.

The Wennberg line saw their first goal against in the post season...the last Canes goal when they were outnumbered 6-5.  They've only had the one goal, but they've outchanced their opponents pretty well so far in the playoffs.

Intensity was pretty good for a game between two teams that hadn't played for around a week, and I don't think either team can be counted out down 2-3 goals in a game...they both just have the ability to push for a goal

Canes still going to get most of their goals by crashing the net and looking for rebounds, or having broken plays...so if the Rangers can continue to protect the front of the net then they'll be a good spot.  The PP isn't going to go 100% every night, so would like to see them keep the pressure up on Andersen who doesn't have the longer track record that Shesterkin does in terms of consistent play.

Game 1 means very little in the playoffs...but it's one of the 4 needed to move to the next round.  Come back hard on Tuesday

Every game you win gives the opposition one less to win four. Sounds simple but fact. Rangers have 6 games left to win three, Carolina has 6 games to win 4. Win Tuesday and Carolina has to win 4 of 5. One game at a time.

Fox/Lindgren pair did not look good ... especially Fox. Is he still hurting?

Yeah, I didn't think they looked great either.  Thought Trouba looked real slow too, and it looks like he's trying to shoot the puck more again, which I'm not a huge fan of.  They got through this game without needing them to be on their A game, but I hope they can tighten it up for the rest of the series.

Actually when I think about it, Schneider might have been the best defenseman on the ice for the Rangers last night...Miller was okay, Gustafsson was his regular self (bit of an adventure at times, but mostly okay).   Trouba had a couple of good moments too...but collectively it wasn't the best performance by the blueline, just thought the forward REALLY helped them out a lot, which is what you need anyway.
