Feels a bit at this stage that most of the players on these two rosters are just trying to play out the end of the preseason without getting hurt

We shall see. I still see him skating away from delivering hits (like he always has). If it is noticeable to me on my couch, you know the opponents know and have zero to fear of him finishing checks. Not everybody is a hitter, but even slight contact can can slow down and mess up an opponents break-out. Kakko usually skates away.

@x10003q He is never going to be a mix it up kind of player. As long as he plays through attempts to get him off his game he will be fine. As he improves his production he will run into that. He has the size to deal with it and as he's matured I think he's dealing with it better every year. A Cuylle type on his line wouldn't hurt.
