Ranger UFA Updates

Gustafsson signs in Detroit for 2 years @$2M

Wennberg gets 2 years @5M in San Jose

Mac Hollowell (who played the year in Hartford) ends up in Pittsburgh on a one year $775K deal

The silence since supposed just about trading Trouba is a little late. Amazing how quiet things can be when you want that. Assuming no Lindgren arbitration case based buyout or trade Trouba and Jones on the third pair gives zero optimism of playoff improvement.
Reilly Smith a huge upgrade on Roslovic who was the poster child for why was he here. A healthy Chytil healthy an obvious improvement for one of the most blah players to ever wear the jersey Wennberg. Two players who improve the Rangers just by being gone. Drury has manoeuvred himself into a situation where he has to hope Chytil, Kakko, Cuylle, Smith, Jones and Lafreniere take their game up another notch, to have a hope of the Rangers being a strong regular season team and more so a improved playoff team. And unless there is some serious input from Chytill, Kakko, Cuylle and Lafreniere the Rangers will have a tough time. That is unless you believe Smith and Jones will be the difference.

Roslovic and Wennberg brought nothing into the types of games the "playoffs" are.
We can hope Chytil remains healthy, and we can hope Kakko is better all we want. Problem is Drury did nothing to help the Rangers be a more physical playoff type team.
Rangers are no harder to play against today than they were at the beginning of June.

Posted by: @AnonymousIn fact, by waiving Goodrow, the Rangers are now easier to play against. Especially in the playoffs.Posted by: @rangerjunkiePosted by: @AnonymousThe silence since supposed just about trading Trouba is a little late. Amazing how quiet things can be when you want that. Goodrow was a huge part of the Rangers playoffs this year. And Garrick doesn't fill Goodrow's boots. A lot of pressure on Cuylle, Rempe, Schneider, and newcomer's to up the tough to play against bar.

Othmann, Sykora and Berard could all be significant upgrades over players the Rangers were using on the bottom lines last year, even as rookies. I like Goodrow, but the odds he’s ever gonna have a playoffs like that offensively again are practically 0%. One of the Rangers problems last year to me was the team was painfully slow. Everybody was talking about size, but part of the reason they couldn’t get the puck out of the zone was because they lacked speed. Other teams were never backed off.

You add to the board stick around. Edstrom another who is very close to a spot.

4th line opening night I go with Carrick, Rempe, Edstrom.
3rd line will be the difficult one.
