Big guy...not my favorite defenseman, but there you go...hopefully he can more than a big body.  Wasn't a high price, and he has another year left at $3.25M after this.

At least we didn't pay $2M and a guy from Hartford for 33 yo UFA Brian Dumoulin like NJ did

Most likely 3rd pair unless he duplicates last years shutdown form. I’m going to guess J.T. Miller had something to say about Soucy and he’s here so it must have been a favourable opinion. Keep it simple pucks up the wall wingers can handle, clear the front, be physical. He’s been around long enough to know the gig.

The Rangers could be buying low on this guy. His stats last year were much better. He actually delivers hits. The dream is he and Fox figure it out.

He is tall but i wish he had 10-15 more lbs of muscle.

If they need me to bleed, then I'll bleed for my team

Pickins' are slim but anybody have interest in Ristolainen from Philly... ??? RD who is larger and hits. Wasting away in Philly. Word is they are looking for a young NHLer or prospect with NHL future.

Will Borgen also played with him in Seattle, and was even his partner for a bit...but the interest in Soucy predates Miller coming back to the Rangers, there was some interest in the past, and Drury does seem to chase certain guys (Reilly Smith was another one)

Not very keen on Ristolainen personally, while he's mostly turned his game around in Philly, he's still an average defender IMO

The Canucks tried to give him about about 4-6 minutes more a night than his career average.  He's had his best years when he was more a 16-17 minute guy, not a 20-22 minute guy.  Of course I expect the Rangers to still try to over play him, but really he seems best suited to a third pair role with PK responsibilties

True but I'd be shocked if Drury didn't check in with Miller and Borgen.

Well, maybe it is Soucy and Schneider for a pairing. According to some of the articles, Soucy was playing full time with AHL/7th d level guys. He cannot carry a weaker guy. With a better partner he will play better. If it is not Soucy, the Rangers still need to get a big body to play with Fox.

Yeah, he was also playing the right side in more recent times too.  But it does feel like a stretch for him to be a second pair D...guess we're going to find out.  Or maybe Vaakanainen now that he's getting a true run will step up
