So it  sounds like the NYR are monitoring the pending UFA status of both Gavrikov (LA) and Provorov (CBJ) as they have yet to sign extensions.  Both play top line minutes, so I imagine they're looking at them as a partner for Fox

Neither really excites me, and I suspect both will require a lot of money and term to sign, for Gavrikov it wouldn't surprise to see 7x$7M, perhaps a bit less for Provorov.

I agree....definitely would stay away from Gavrikov

Before Drury signs any UFA he needs to get Cuylle signed.

Neither is the shutdown defenseman that is needed. Rangers need to find a trading partner to get one. Overpaying for a mid tier defenseman to play top pair minutes along side of Faux is just more of the same stupidity.

If they need me to bleed, then I'll bleed for my team

Drury will blow the cash this year on junk. Next years UFA class is the best in history. Don't be stupid Chris build your wad for next year.

This - he seems to need a shiny new overpay every year

And don't forget that this season is the Rangers' centennial -- so The Dolt will definitely be "involved" in some way or another regarding the team that is iced.  I'd turn that 12th pick over to Pens now as I don't have a good feeling about the upcoming season at all.

I'd much rather see Gavrikov than Provorov, although maybe that's just because I've seen a lot more of the latter's play.  Hard to really be familiar with a Kings player as an East Coast guy.

Well he did play for the Jackets for some time.  He looks to me more like a middle pair D-man, has flaws in the same way that Miller has flaws today.  What also makes it difficult, is that LA has been one of the best defensive teams over the last couple of seasons, and I think that's helped Gavrikov be better, and I expect if Sullivan can't get the forwards to buy in to a more defensive mind set, he's going to be more exposed in NY.

When I look at guys like Panarin, JT Miller and Lafreniere, I don't see guys who are very committed to playing a 200 foot game, which means the defense and goaltending is going to continue to be under pressure until they either change or are replaced in the line-up.  And that's without throwing Perreault in there too, though maybe he adapts his game...

Gavrikov gives me a bad Shattenkirk feeling.

^^ This

Don"t need to pay 5 million for a 2nd pair dman with holes in his game

Rangers need a big shutdown dman to play along side Adam Faux. Anything else is just re arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. Might as well find a journeyman or let some kid from Hartford play.

If he comes here, he's getting a minimum of $7 mil....and will end up on the first pair.  I'm lighting candles and using voodoo to try and keep this from happening.

More rumors on Gavrikov out there today.  Mercogliano says he's hearing mutual interest, Seravalli saying it might be 7 years x $8M

I guess trading Miller putting the Garikov money towards Exblad makes to much sense.
