Rangers announced today Shesty is on injured reserve. One of two things possible here. One he is really hurt and blame Sam Bennett for running him over, which bye the way received very little push back by the Rangers. Or two he is not hurt, but the Rangers are scared he might get decapitated by one of those unchallenged, full windup enemy slap shots from the heart of the slot. So far he has been lucky to have been able to escape injury. But with Miller back and healthy, you know a lot more of those shots are coming.
Bennett did not run him over....Lindgren checked him hard into Shesty.
Lindgren did exactly what he had to do. You can’t have an opposing puck carrier with both feet in the blue paint flying through the crease. You have to make them pay. Bennett knew that, going in. A reason many many teams covet his services. And even though Lindgren hit Bennett into Shesterkin the Rangers could have and should have responded a lot more angrily than they did. The fact that Shesterkin probably got hurt there is what it is. Personally very happy Lindgren hammered him. A tough break for Shesterkin but it isn’t a bad thing at this stage.
Till the Rangers get their dzone responsibilities figured out he is safer in the stands.
