The Letter 2.0
Well, here we go again. Drury writes a letter about "retooling" the mess he has made. Another Dolt-endorsed statement designed to keep butts in seats.
"players that bring tenacity, skill, speed, and a winning pedigree"...Gee Chris, what have you been doing so far?
"...not a rebuild...retool around our core players and prospects"...Gee Chris, besides Igor and maybe Cuylle and Laba who would that be?
A Message from Chris Drury to Our Fans:
We wanted to take a moment to connect with our loyal and passionate fanbase. We know and feel your disappointment with how the season has gone to this point. We are just as frustrated and want nothing more than to deliver an on-ice product you can be proud of - it’s what drives us every day. No one in the organization is happy with what has transpired – from management, to coaches, to players. Over the last few years, we’ve had some successes and moments to cherish, but ultimately it was not the end goal. We are working relentlessly every day to bring a Stanley Cup back to New York because that is what our fans deserve.
With our position in the standings and injuries to key players this season, we must be honest and realistic about our situation. We are not going to stand pat - a shift will give us the ability to be smart and opportunistic as we retool the team. This will not be a rebuild. This will be a retool built around our core players and prospects. We will target players that bring tenacity, skill, speed, and a winning pedigree with a focus on obtaining young players, draft picks, and cap space to allow us flexibility moving forward. That may mean saying goodbye to players that have brought us and our fans great moments over the years. These players represented the Rangers with pride and class and will always be a part of our family.
As we start on this new strategic plan, we will continue to play hard with pride and passion for our fans. We appreciate your unwavering support for the Rangers more than we can describe and thank you for all that you do for our organization. You will begin to see some of our plans come to light in the coming weeks and months. LGR

Did I miss something? I don't recall them playing hard, with pride or with any passion.
The fear I have is Drury fritters away the few assets that bring a return and the Rangers end up with nothing. And lets face it his drafting leaves a lot to be desired.
Player development not good either. If it was they would have been working on things like Laf’s skating. Who is in player development anyway — Tanner Glass?
Rangers also have 1 Christian Hmura as the teams Skills and Performance Development Coach. The obvious question being WHO? Not a guy a lot of teams chased. Probably Drury or Sullivan's cousin. Rangers have the resources to hire the best in the business. They don't.

Player development? I don't believe that for a minute. These players skated before they knew how to walk. You get the athlete you drafted. Laf did work on his skating, but you can't teach speed. You can't teach quick decision making. You either have it or you don't. Flip the script. Was Laba's quick rise due to "player development?"
How does a took re-tool?
I think Drury should STFU about Ranger plans because it stinks of desperation and only serves to devalue your assets
Bread
Fox
Mika
JT
Trocheck
Soucy
Laf
Can all take a hike.
If they need me to bleed, then I'll bleed for my team
I agree a letter is stupid. You’d think he’d of learned yapping about Trouba and Kreider available. A little note around the league nothing was off the table, and let the interested teams get back to him. The letter smacks of desperation. His most obvious hurdle is get Panarin to accept a trade to at least two hopefully three teams. And no garbage contracts back that go past the end of this season. The value with Panarin is retain his contract til the end of the season. That might open a few doors. Colorado, Minnesota, and Carolina all offer Panarin a shot at a cup. Moving Trocheck, Soucy, and Lafrenière opens up some cap rom. Last thing we need is Drury taking a shit contract back. Aka Montreal fans yodelling they would like Panarin but the Rangers would have to take Laine back, which Drury is dumb enough to do. First round picks, and high end young players squeezed out of contenders lineups on their first contract, need only apply.
How far you going to get when you are on the skids like the Rangers and your Captain drops this crap after L.A. game.
" “I think we’re happy with the execution,” Miller told The New York Post after the game. “At the end of the night, we can sleep well knowing that we’re doing the right things. You have to believe that if you keep doing the right things then the puck will go in the net.”
That is beyond ridiculous.....if they WERE doing the right things, they wouldn't be losing so badly and so often. Send all of them packing.Posted by: @cuyllrangerHow far you going to get when you are on the skids like the Rangers and your Captain drops this crap after L.A. game.

After a brutal playoff loss when the Tampa Bay Bucs got shut out 49-0 the great coach of the Bucs John McKay was asked "what do you think about your team's execution, He said "I'm in favor of it"
