If Edmonton, with their average defence doesn't claim Robertson, that's telling. Edmonton coach Knoblach had him a couple years in Hartford and knows him as much, or better than any other hockey person.
Rangers reassigned Rempe, Edstrom, Mancini and Berard, and called up Harpur, Blidh, Leschyshyn and Sykora....just paper moves to maximize the LTIR capture...probably Rempe, Edstrom and Mancini get recalled for Wednesday, and the other 4 (along with Roberston) get sent down

It's pretty technical for sure, and I only kind of understand much of it, but in this case if you don't have players "using" the cap space when you put the player on IR, you effectively lose it for purposes of being able to add players up to that number. So for instance, if they had put Vesey on LTIR and had not changed the mix of roster, they might have missed out on a couple of hundred K worth of temporary cap space under Vesey.
One other thing to note, you can't accrue any cap space while you've got LTIR exceeding the Cap, so for the next 24 days or so, the Rangers will not be accruing any cap space for the trade deadline, which will change when they reactivate Vesey. If they don't activate him at all (he's done for the year), they'll at least be able to go up to $792K over the cap number for the year.

Wild stuff. I noticed the negative cap number and wondered how they get around this. I guess this is how.
What I find amuzing is, it's been reported that Cuylle, Edstrom, Mancini and Rempe were "sent" to Hartford. I'm pretty sure "sent" here is meaning "sent on paper," but do they actually have to set foot in Harftfod, get a sandwich and take the train back to NYC? Just pondering.
