Domingue Set To Make Debut

With Igor Shesterkin and Jonathan Quick both sidelined with injuries, the Rangers will turn to third string netminder Louis Domingue for the start tonight against Minnesota. It’ll be the first game for the Rangers since signing in the Summer of 2022 following a solid performance in the playoffs for the Pittsburgh Penguins – against the Rangers.

The 31 year old has 142 NHL games across 8 seasons, though has just 3 appearances over the past three seasons, including none last year. He’s off to a strong start in Hartford, where he’s posted a 3-1-0 record in his 4 starts, to go with a 1.75 GAA and .943 Sv%.

After a promising start with Arizona and a solid couple of years in Tampa, Domingue’s career has settled into the role of a depth netminder. The right-handed netminder was signed to provide the Rangers some depth for this very situation, and could start both tonight as well as on Sunday.

Backing him up tonight will be 21 year old Dylan Garand. Garand has had more an up and down season so far in Hartford, with a 3-1-1 record along with 2.63 GAA and .914 Sv%. Garand is in just his second professional year after making signing last Summer and joining the Wolf Pack.
