Miller Resigned

New York locked up defenseman K’Andre Miller for two more years Tuesday, with a bridge deal worth and AAV of $3.872M. With little Cap room left, it was generally expected that this woudl be a two year bridge deal, leading into a bigger payday for the young blueliner in a couple of years. At this cost, it leaves the Rangers with about $3M or so to sign their last remaining roster play Alexis Lafreniere, and leave a little space to cover for injuries and/or trades along the way.
There’s No Business Like Show Business

Chris Drury was apparently given a proposition he couldn’t refuse: adding Patrick Kane to an already very skilled line-up. The move came after the former Blackhawk used his NMC leverage to force Chicago GM Kyle Davidson into negotiating with one team – the New York Rangers. It’s been a bit of a circus in the last week, what […]
Emergency Call-up Request Denied

The Rangers will be a defenseman short once again tonight, as the Rangers play their third straight game shorthanded, and potentially face one more before the return of K’Andre Miller from his three game suspension. The NHL today denied the Rangers’ request for an emergency call-up, presumably because the team could have made a call-up in lieu […]
Miller Hit With Spit Suspension

There were no breaks for the New York Rangers and K’Andre Miller today, with the league handing down a three game suspension for spitting on Los Angeles Kings defenseman Drew Doughty. Miller can appeal the suspension and make his case to league commissioner Gary Bettman, or he can accept the term which will see him miss games […]
Is This The Year?

Last season exceeded our expectations by some margin. 52 wins, career years for a number of Rangers – including 52 goals by Chris Kreider, along with the Vezina winning performance in net from Igor Shesterkin, were all components of a very enjoyable campaign last season. Then a post season run that saw them ultimately exit in the […]
Nils Sum Game

After a week of speculation, Nils Lundkvist confirmed through his agent Claude Lemieux, that he will not report to camp, and will instead remain in Sweden hoping to force a trade. There have been reports this week, that the Swede asked for a trade after being demoted to Hartford mid-way through last season, and without a foreseeable path to a […]
Trouba Named 28th NYR Captain

After having gone without a captain since Ryan McDonagh was traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning on February 2nd, 2018, the Rangers finally made a decision and announced 28 year old Jacob Trouba will become the 28th captain in franchise history. He is the 11th defenseman to carry the C for the team, and is the second consecutive blue […]

In all, 37 players were invited to camp, including 27 draft picks, 2 undrafted players signed out of college, and AHL contractee and seven invitees. The draft […]
It Makes Some Sort Of Cents

How would you feel if the Rangers traded 22 year old Filip Chytil? What about if former second overall pick Kaapo Kakko was traded? What if they both get traded? Because that could be very well where we’re heading this Summer as the Rangers look to compete for the Cup now, and do so with little Salary Cap […]
Anticipation Meets Reality

Most pundits and even a lot of fans, looked at this series against the Pittsburgh Penguins as pretty much a win for the Rangers. The Rangers had won the season series 3-1, with all three wins coming in the last six weeks of the season. By contrast, the Penguins had limped through the second half […]
