Rangers Extend Lafreniere

The Rangers announced late yesterday, that they have reached a two year agreement with RFA forward Alexis Lafreniere. Lafreniere had been the sole remaining RFA for the team, and his signing concludes the Summer of signings for all intents and purposes. The deal came in at 2 years, with a value of $2.325 million annually, which aligns to expectations.

Scanlin Signs Days Ahead of Arbitration Hearing

The Rangers announced today that they have come to terms with 24 year old defenseman Brandon Scanlin on a one year $775K deal.  The agreement comes three days ahead of Friday’s scheduled arbitration hearing that was set after Scanlin became the only eligible Ranger to file for arbitration.

Rangers ‘Ty’ Up Emberson For Another Year

Chris Drury signed his second RFA of the off-season today, locking up 23 year old defenseman Ty Emberson for another year for the minimum $775K contract. The right handed defenseman is one of only two right handed defensemen signed by the Rangers in Hartford, along with Mac Holloway, who was added as a UFA on July 1st.

Miller Resigned

New York locked up defenseman K’Andre Miller for two more years Tuesday, with a bridge deal worth and AAV of $3.872M.  With little Cap room left, it was generally expected that this woudl be a two year bridge deal, leading into a bigger payday for the young blueliner in a couple of years.  At this cost, it leaves the Rangers with about $3M or so to sign their last remaining roster play Alexis Lafreniere, and leave a little space to cover for injuries and/or trades along the way.
