Rangers Getting Healthy

The first half of the season saw the Rangers play as many or more games than any other team leading into their five day league mandated break.  The intensity of the schedule was further compounded by a number of key injuries, particularly to Mika Zibanejad, Pavel Buchnevich and Rick Nash. Two of that trio will return tonight against Toronto […]

Nash Back In Tonight

Forward Rick Nash says he’s ready to go tonight against the Dallas Stars after having practiced the last couple of days.  Nash has missed four games after he suffered the minor groin strain against the Islanders on December 6th.  The Rangers have grafted out a 3-1-0 record in his absence, but goal scoring has been hard to […]

Injury Update: Nash, Vesey and Buchnevich

It appears now that Jimmy Vesey will miss 1-2 games with an upper body injury.  Vesey did take a slash in the loss to the Islanders, but continued to play.  He did not skate today, and is listed as day to day by the team. Rick Nash is off to get an MRI on his groin.  While no […]

Injuries Force Another Call Up

Last night’s loss to the Islanders has further exacerbated the Rangers’ injury concerns.  Already missing Pavel Buchnevich and Mika Zibanejad, New York also lost forwards Rick Nash (lower body) and Matt Puempel (concussion) during last night’s game. Puempel was placed on Injury Reserve this morning, and Nicklas Jensen was called up from Hartford to replace him.  On the positive side, Michael Grabner is expected to be […]

It’s Been Twenty Years

The New York Rangers are off to a torrid start to the 2016-17 NHL season, with 65 goals through the first sixteen games of the year.  That puts them on pace for 333 goals, which would be the most goals in the past twenty years for any NHL team, let alone the Blueshirts.  You have […]

Change Is In The Air

After a resounding loss to the bottom of the league Canucks on Tuesday, Rangers Head Coach Alain Vigneault looks set to restructure the Rangers forwards and defense.  Recent benchings of Chris Kreider and Jimmy Vesey, along with a nine-game goalless streak by Mika Zibanejad – that ended late in the game Tuesday, were already indicators that not all was right […]

Here we go

The puck drops tonight, opening the Rangers season, a season they hope finishes with a return to conference finals and beyond. Last seasons  dissapointing finish to the eventual Stanley Cup champion Penguins, left a sore spot in many of the returning veterans. That sore spot motivating people like Rick Nash, Marc Staal and Dan Girardi is critical to any potential […]

Be Careful

Many are the New York Ranger fans, bloggers, forum posters and unpaid experts calling for big roster changes before the next puck drops. Big, when you consider most are hoping Rick Nash, Kevin Hayes, Marc Staal and Dan Girardi are all on the other side of the rink, when the summer ends. Indeed a monumental task for Mr. Gorton, when you […]

Optimism?

Any combination of Stepan, Brassard, Miller, Nash, Kreider, and Zuccarello, in the top six is fine by me and probably most Ranger fans. I’ve never understood Jesper Fast being in the top six mix, when all hands are on deck, and even when Rick Nash was down, and then while he was being eased back into the lineup. But if […]

Can’t Win Without Four Lines

At some point in time Coach Vigneault and his Assistants have to comprehend how ordinary the fourth line has been this season. They have to admit it is a huge issue going forward. With Brassard, Milller, Zuccarello, Kreider, Stepan, Staal, Nash, Stalberg and Fast on the top three lines they are OK. However Stalberg and […]
