Rangers ‘Ty’ Up Emberson For Another Year

Chris Drury signed his second RFA of the off-season today, locking up 23 year old defenseman Ty Emberson for another year for the minimum $775K contract. The right handed defenseman is one of only two right handed defensemen signed by the Rangers in Hartford, along with Mac Holloway, who was added as a UFA on July 1st.

Gaborik v Carcillo – The Rematch

The Philadelphia Flyers visit the Garden today (3:00pm – MSG) to take on the Rangers. New York are desperately in need of points to remain in the race, sitting three points behind the eight placed Bruins, with Boston having a game in hand. Still, memories of the last meeting between these two teams is likely to be fresh in […]

Avery In The News

As the teams prepare for tonight’s potential series deciding Game 5 down in Washington D.C., the talk in the papers once again is Sean Avery. Whether you’re one of his biggest supporters – like Larry Brooks – or some guy in Canada who seems to be personally offended by Avery’s antics, the message is the same. It’s time to wise-up and get […]

Win Gives Short Reprieve

Well, looks like Tom Renney keeps his job at least a little bit longer thanks to a 3-1 win over the league’s worst team in the New York Islanders. It took a lucky goal by Scott Gomez (one that Yann Danis really should’ve had), that broke a long stretch of futility on the power play and put the Rangers ahead for good. Other […]

Betts And Sjostrom Are Killing It

The NHL All-Star break continues, with commissioner Gary Bettman threatening to suspend any player who doesn’t show up for the event in Montreal. Niklas Lidstrom and Pavel Datsyuk may yet change their minds, or face the prospect of missing a regular season game as a result. In the mean time, Larry Brooks makes the case […]

Heading Down To D.C.

The Rangers head down to Washington tonight to face the Capitals (7:00pm – MSG). It’s the first meeting between the teams this year, but the Caps did pick up two overtime wins on their home ice last season. For New York, it looks like Renney will continue to stick with Petr Prucha in the line-up, with Dan Fritsche a […]

Week Off Might Be Double-Edged Sword

After a seven day wait and plenty of talk, the Eastern Conference Semifinal series between the Rangers and Penguins finally gets under way tonight (7:00pm – Versus). If the Rangers are to win the series, they’ll need to neutralize Sidney Crosby. While Evgeni Malkin lead the Penguins in the regular season, Crosby is probably their key player, and the Rangers will need to keep a lid […]

Penguins Up Next

So it’s going to be Rangers vs Penguins for the matchup in the Eastern Conference Semifinals, and we’ll likely have to hear endless gushing over the play of Sidney Crosby for the next week or two. While there’s no comments dismissing their opponents, like we heard from Sean Avery and Tom Renney last year with respect to the Sabres, there are high expectations for the […]

Penguin Or Habs On The Menu

It’s down to the Canadiens and Penguins for the Rangers opponent in the next round. If The Capitals complete their improbable comeback tonight, they’ll face the Penguins, and the Rangers will play Montreal. If the Flyers win, then the Rangers will head west to Pittsburgh. Whatever the case, the Rangers will likely know who they face at around 9:30pm […]

Waiting For A Match-up

Wins by the Bruins and Capitals yesterday means that we’re no closer to finding out who the Rangers’ next opponent will be. The Rangers will wait the results over the next two to three days. The puzzle could be completed tomorrow when the Caitals visit the Flyers. The Flyers lead the series 3-2 and have a chance to clinch. Boston and […]
