Win Clinches Playoffs, Home Ice Still Possible

With last night’s 3-0 win, the Rangers have set themselves up with a shot at home ice advantage. The Rangers of course will have to win tonight, but they’ll also need some help from the Flyers, who will need to beat New Jersey…in regulation preferrably.
The win also clinched a playoff spot for the third straight season, and at worst they can now finish only 7th.
Home Sweet Home

With the regular season ending on Sunday, the Rangers still have a shot at home ice advantage for the playoffs. It looks increasingly likely that the Rangers will square off against New Jersey in what promises to be another exciting series between the division rivals.
New York has dominated the Devils during the regular season going 7-0 for the first time against a team since 1968. But despite the seeming dominance, the games have been close. Four of the seven games have been decided by one goal, one of those in overtime and two in the shootout. There’ll be no shootout of course in the playoffs.
