Staal And Rangers Talking
With just nine days to go until the Rangers open training camp, it looks as if we finally have movement on the Marc Staal contract front. Mike Brophy of Sportsnet reported earlier today that the two sides are closing in on a deal. Various Ranger beat writers followed up the report to say that while nothing appears imminent, a deal could be forthcoming soon.
If they do manage to get Staal locked into a deal, it’ll almost certainly spell the end for Wade Redden as a Ranger this season. The Rangers are already over the regular season cap number, and would need to send Redden to Hartford, trade him or loan him to Europe in order to comply with the league mandated cap.
Dubi-ous Consequences
Marian Gaborik and Erik Christensen joined the informal skating sessions today with around twenty three other Rangers and Ranger prospects. Also news today that Marc Staal and the Rangers are once again talking.
